Mhairi Ankaa, Witch-Queen of Autumn, Once-Director of the Feehold of Sacramento bends over, hands finding her thighs as she vomits.

Throat raw, and shaking she stands using the back of her hand to wipe the sick away from her lips. Steam rising from her eyes as tears burn away.

They just killed a man.

No matter the reasonings it wasn't right.

Steam still rises, and shakily Mhairi moves away from her sick, already seeping into the ground, being lapped up by eager thorns. They thrive on pain, and the remains of her luch certainly demonstrated pain.

"The Margraves..." starts slow, voice raw as her throat, "They guard the border marches....they don't belong in the Freehold proper, instead they live outside it. They don't trust those within any if the Courts...and they trust Freeholders less." she starts, wishing they were elsewhere for this conversation. Wishing she could lean on something. "They hate the Kings and Queens. I think they'd rather have them." us. Looking to Circe, "Killed. They don't want to be apart of the politics...but i think there's a Pledge involved so they don't...so they'll protect the. It's, like they hate us, but they don't raze the Freeholds to the ground...so. Um... she trails off, trying not to stare at the cooling corpse not three feet from her.

Circe wasn't happy about the situation but she was doing a remarkably good job of mentally blaming the instigators. Any disgust she might have was redirected by Mhairi's decoy action.

"Ugh," she lets out a sound of disgust at Mhairi's losing her lunch. She covered her nose and took a step back away from Mhairi. And started to go into full on bitch mode, "If ya were that against killin' Mhairi, ya should'a dueled like I said."

Then the Margraves were brought up. Circe's disgust turned to a different expression. "Sssso they want us to fuck off but not get hurt? And they might kill us. Or maybe not. Or just the crowned. Or help us. Or not. Sound like a bunch of indecisive mollusks." The elf shook her head, "I'd prefer something more certain. Magravens sound very much not,."

In a flash, the fleeing Tobias is felled. It all happened so quickly. Quick kneels by the side of the fallen Ogre, trying to catch his breath - which is coming in ragged and hard. His eyes don't leave the body. Neither do his thoughts. Tobias was a monster, right? A perv and a cannibal with no love for the Freehold. He hears the others talking. Mentioning Tobias' friend and the Margraves. Some tower or something. It's nearly impossible to track with his mind reeling over what he'd just done.

The grim yet somehow flippant way Quick was handling this sent shivers down her spine.

"They don't like us. But I don't want to fuck with them. We don't know their numbers and..." fell-flames flicker staring at the Oger, did they want to run straight into another sitchuation that would spill more blood?

"We should regroup. Get back muggle side, and scope out Tobias' friend. I don't want to leave that as a loose end." sucking in a breath "Circe? Can you play pathfinder?" remember the Cat, the hippy's house and the loot they stashed in the Hedge.

"Stone cold Quick. Maybe Summer is more yer thing." She forced out a joke of her own. As for Mhairi's request, "Hmph," she shoulder the shotgun to draw her alternate options. Both, just in case more shit came their way, "Of course I can trail blaze. Maybe not as well as our VERY former guide but I can try. Unless one of ya happens to be able to smell Gates or something."

Strange how they ended, not where they had started, but near Old Sacramento. This was the way of the Hedge. The path was never straight.
