Smiling, “No problem.” She’d been there. The new Ling in town with little to no money to her name, it felt good to be able to do something.
“Oh, well welcome! As I'm sure you can see, Winter decided to throw a masquerade party and I have to say, it’s spectacular!” a sip was taken from her cup, “And this is about all that makes up our Freehold. But you’ll find everyone here friendly and willing to help a new face if they can.” Yup, it was what they did.
Looking back to Sasha, “I did not recognize her, her costume wins the night I must say.” She did an amazing job hiding. “She is the current Sovereign for Winter. Owns this club and is one of the more friendly Lost you’ll meet.”
"Good to know who the boss is. I'll wait till it's the right time for the Pledge," he remarked cheerfully.Nursing his well-liquor, he then asked, "How long have you been in the Freehold? Anything worth checking out, avoiding, that kind of thing? I'm always up for an adventure, I'm just not so good with my interpersonal stuff. Like, I've a habit of talking too much when it's a topic I like."
He then added, "You're pretty friendly yourself."
Nodding, “Yeah, uh, about the Pledge.” New guy, doesn’t know. “There is no longer a Pledge. The Freehold went through a huge change, and as such, the Pledges went away. But I’m sure Sasha can explain it a lot better than I am.” A light chuckle.
“A little over a year actually. I arrived when the dragon was still a problem and we had no real Freehold. We defeated the over grown lizard and moved the Freehold to Funderland Amusement park. And since then, things have been good. So Funderland is defiantly worth checking out. Each Season runs an attraction there, Winter’s is a House of Mirrors. Again, something Sasha will go over with you. Sasha has been here the longest, she was here when things went south with the Dragon. I’m not sure if she enjoys talking about, as it almost brought the Freehold completely down, and a lot were lost. But she’d have more details.”
Laughing, “No worries about that! Feel free to talk all you want.” You learned more if someone was willing to talk. “Are you from around ere or did you travel to get here?” another sip was taken.
Beaming at the compliment, “Thank you! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming when I arrived so I try and pay that forward when I can.”
"Aww, that's no good. Shame really." He shrugs. "Not much that can be done then."
John nodded, listening to Sera inform him of the happenings within the Freehold. "House of Mirrors..." A long laugh. "Oh boy, that ought to be a blast." The alcohol was finally kicking in. Liquor on an empty stomach loosened his lips. "I can fulfill my dream of being a year round carny."
"I'm from Laramie, Wyoming. I worked at the University of Wyoming as a janitor. The Dean got Ensorcelled. I don't know The Gentry's agents since it was a small city of older Lost. Senior Lost?" Another shrug. "Anyhow, it was sort of a retirement Freehold. They were rather set in their ways and didn't do a good job of securing the boundaries. The classic, "it can't happen here" mentality. I left soon as I saw them turning into ostriches."
Doe shook his head, and finished the liquor. "Word of advice; if Winter is in hiding, run."
John's cheeks blushed, seeing Sera's acceptance of the compliment. "I appreciate that. We need more folks like you around."
Nodding, “I have to be honest, I haven’t visited the House of Mirrors yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it from around the park.” It was true, people seemed to really enjoy the house of mirrors. A musical laugh, “Well then, you’ve come to the right Freehold! I’m sure Sasha or Ingrid, our Director and Spring Sovereign, can help get you a job within the park if you’re looking for work.” She could offer something at her coffee shop, but didn’t want to overstep.
Sapphires wide, “Oh wow! Not really something you hear about a whole lot.” At least she didn’t. “I think you’ll find we’re a lot more careful with our boundaries. After what happened with the Dragon, we’re extra careful.” Why would a Freehold not secure their boundaries? That was just stupid.
A soft chuckle, “Well, I’m not the only friendly one in the area. I don’t think you’ll talk with anyone in this room who won’t be friendly. But glad to know I’m doing good.” A grin.
“Would you like to meet Sasha? Not that I’m not enjoying your company, I just want to make sure I’m not stealing you all to myself. It’d be good to meet with her as soon as possible.” A charming smile and humor in her voice.
"Awesome, it'd be fun to work for any of the Lost." He clapped his hands together in excitement. "No more roughin' it."
At the mention of Sasha, he nodded. "Yea, I'd like that. Thanks." A spur of the moment thought came to him. "Since you're escorting me wanna go arm in arm?" He offered his limb for her to link.
A smile and nod, “We all help take care of those who need a hand. And if you like coffee, you should stop by my coffee shop, I’ll hook you up.” She says with a wink.
Now this was different. She couldn’t remember the last time a guy had offered her his arm to walk.
A surprised, but pleased smile appeared, “My, aren’t you the gentleman! Thank you.” She was clearly impressed and accepted his offered arm.
