(The Dark) Facing Dirge

[Twist]

If Twist is bothered by Alessandra's attack on the Giant it doesn't show. Instead, she spins in place, her eyes seeking a new target.

Cursing the obvious lack of Dirge's body she lets two new knives slide free of their homes, sending them toward the last remaining Hell Hound.

There is a flicker of motion from Twist's hands.

The hell hound stands, suddenly transfixed, before crumpling on top of the inert Haunt. Twin knives protrude from its carcass, yet there is no obvious explanation as to how they suddenly appeared there.

Outside, a shriek of tyres herald the flight of the remaining Carnival Kindred, their followers, and Dirge.

COMBAT ENDS - there are no further enemies in sight.

Dirge is gone.

Alice Hart is in Torpor.

The Giant falls, and Ale quickly looks around for either her next target, or Dirge.

But the lack of visual on the Haunt added together with the shriek of tires tells her they lost their target.

She feels anger wash over her, this whole night had been planned to capture or ash Dirge, and they failed.

No. She failed.

“Fanculo!” she growls in frustration. How could this happen?! She knew she couldn’t have caught the bearded lady when she ran with the body, so why didn’t anyone else chase?!

Spinning around, she sees Twist, Josef and Mable. But not Robert. Where the fuck did he go?
And then she sees Alice, crumbled beneath what was left of the dogs. Her anger begins to melt away, but not by much.

While she had been on the fence about ashing Dirge, she still wanted her captured.

“Anyone seen Cross?” she asks, her voice edged, her Claws still out. "And Alice, is she ok?"

[Yumyumcrow]

Alice's body is already beginning to pop and shrink as it settles into Torpor.

So too the Giant - dramatically so given his huge size and girth.

The heady scent of spilled blood mingles with the stink of alcohol fumes and burning flesh.

Mable hears Ale speak and looks around wild-eyed. She is soaked in blood, claws out ready for more. When she realizes there isn't more, she pulls herself together.

Once the claws retract she pulls the dog carcasses off of Alice.

"She is not looking good." She reports back. "I can carry her. Can someone pull a car up to that side door?" Mable wanted to help more. She could offer some of her blood... right now she needed to focus on getting everyone cleaned up and away from here.
