Haunt vs Gangrel

The circle is prepared. Sawdust is splashed over gravel and the lightly constructed cane swords are presented to the two contestants.

Once the two Kindred are ready, Stax formally leads them into the circle. He will bow to both and then retreat across the cordon where he encourages the others to gather and watch.

MELEE DUELS

No Discipline use allowed.

The wooden swords are of a light construction, granting a +2B bonus to Weaponry rolls. However, they are particularly flimsy and if an e-sux (5+ successes) are achieved on a roll, the weapon will shatter in a profusion of woody shards. A shattered sword offers no Equipment Bonus.

Swords are not replaced till the end of the match.

You may take penalties if you wish to reflect your character pulling their blows.

Duels are ended when one of the contestants starts taking Lethal damage, leaves the combat arena or else yields to their opponent.

Baron Nicholas, Groom of the Invictus, is chuckling to himself by the time he approaches the circle. He is still smiling when he receives his lightly constructed sword, and his chortles get only louder once he has made several practice swings.

"Interesting tooth pick. A good choice though. Don't want to cause unnecessary damage now, do we?" The wink he passes to Mable suggests otherwise, as does the rictus snarl of his ruby lipped monstrous mouth. "Let us dance!" He swaggers into the circle and very nearly gets caught flat footed once the match begins...

Mable did not miss that gleam in his eye. He wanted to show he was better than a little girl.

The Gangrel and the Haunt dance around one another, kicking up dirt and puffs of sawdust. Mable is predatory, cat-like; Baron Nicholas is like a cossack swordsman of old, with fluid feet tapping a rhythm while his posture remains guarded.

Eventually, Nicholas acclimatises to Mable's Beast. He shuffles forward on sliding feet, sword swinging in a devilish arc.

Mable kicks up a bit of dust as she circles the Baron. She wants to just punch the pompous ass but she has to use this dumb stick. She moves in to deliver a strike. She swings and misses. Mable rolls to a safer position again to regroup.

Baron Nicholas is not smiling now. His face isn't a grimace of hate or concern either. Instead its a mask as he studies Mable; shifts on his feet and pirouettes away from her own quick and nimble strike. He lets his spin go, using the momentum to deliver another wheeling strike.

The Baron makes no sound as Mable hits - solidly. The Gangrel gets a satisfying thud as her weapon physically connects and a pleasurable jar up her arm, but the Haunt does not cry or call out.

He makes a snap strike in return, throwing his weight into the stroke.
