    The dummies are placed and the targets - 3 plates on each dummy - are set. There is a flurry of motion as the targets are set spinning. The contestants stand in pairs, blazing away with their little sporting pistols. Plates shatter and fall.

    FIRING RANGE

    Each contestant will get three Dexterity + Firearms rolls, each representing an attempt to dislodge one of the plates attached to the rotating dummy.

    First roll will be at a -3 penalty, second at -2 penalty and third at -1 penalty reflecting the rotation of the dummy.

    The sporting pistol offers a +2L bonus to the roll and range is irrelevant.

    For each set, make the Firearms rolls (including the penalties) and drop them below, along with any framing narration you wish.

    At the end of each set scores will be compared. In the case of a tie, another set will be played.

    The first pair is Lord Fox, an NPC and Robert Cross unlimited sink . The second pair is Cadence Behr trickychicknixon and Robert Longstreet Woland . The two winners will play off against each other for the prize!

    Cross steps up and levels his pistol. He's not familiar with this particular firearm, but that can't be helped.

    He aims, fires. And misses.

    Lord Fox inclines his head to Cross but otherwise remains silent. He doesn't speak unless spoken to, prefer to thoroughly check the sporting pistol and test its light weight in his hand. When he spares the Haunt a glance, it is not to admire his handiwork but to study his stance and his handling of the light weight pistol in his hands.

    When it comes to the Invictus Lord's turn, he simply steps forward, tosses his dark mane, and fires off his shots in a rapid flurry. No showmanship here, only simple and brutal efficiency.

    Cadence steps forward, clearly a little bit out of her element. She had shot rifles many times in her youth, her father even tried to take her hunting once, but she wasn't used to firing a handgun. Lord Fox's intensity made her nervous. She took extra time to line up her shot, focusing as intently as she could ... and misses.

    Somewhat discouraged, Cadence lines up another shot and manages to hit the target! She catches herself almost exclaiming with excitement, and instead tries to calm down and focus on the final shot.

    Cross is out, and the machine-like Fox fellow comes out victorious. This Meister of Fancy Titles is good. Very good.

    The new arrival steps forward and gives a decent performance. In compliance with her girl-next-door looks and attitude she sends her well-wishes, going so far as to call Longstreet a "friend". To this there can only be one answer:

    "Luck? I don't need luck when I can do this"

    A shot is lined up, and for a moment everything slows down, like the world is drowning in molasses.

    ROBERT LONGSTREET progresses to the next round with LORD FOX. Cadence Behr trickychicknixon is eliminated.


    The dummies are replaced and the targets are reset in preparation for the winning pair. In the interim, LORD FOX drifted over. "Nice showing, both of you." The Shadow had a deep, gravelly voice, which was completely at odds with his lithe frame.

    There is little time for further talk. The Invictus Lord grins dangerously as he swiftly takes his place.

    Lord Fox had watching intently, his face a mask of calm intensity. When Longstreet misses, the Mekhet makes a sound that can only be described as strangled surprise.

    "Well that is no fun," he growls. "I was hoping to go for another round." The Unconquered Lord accepts the Sanctified Haunt's hand after a moment's pause.

    "Thanks. A pity we could not continue."

    LORD FOX wins the prize!
