Caution: All Rails Are Alive

[Hector]

Hector is patient, despite the stinging heat of the smog and noxious fumes clogging his nose. He still has ears. He still has intuition. He is motionless - until he hears the snarls of battle and the fleshy clank of gears. And then...

Then he springs into action.

Essence burns through him as his form expands. His jaws widen into a slavering maw.

The Cahalith hurls himself bodily at his enemy, maw snapping with a horror of sharp teeth.

Following ST advice, Hector can tell where the Magath is for this round.

Hector opts for an All Out Attack, simply charging straight at the mass where he believes the Magath to be.

The Magath's brutal claws ripped through Viola's flesh and wolf blood ran in spreading pools of scarlet beneath the choking black smog. But the ferocity of the wolf pack had been roused, and Viola had tricked the beast, tangling its limbs and leaving its throat bared for Tristan's teeth as the tore into the great Magath. But the creature was not dead, and it reared back, shaking the wolf-pest loose, only to have its iron tendons plucked like harp strings, sharp wolf teeth tearing through and leaving the beast half crippled. Gouts of flame and steam bled out from the injured beast as the Viola-wolf turned and brought her own fangs to bear, but the Magath was massive, and its hide thick.

Shaking itself like an oak caught in a hurricane, the great Magath flung the wolves away, its deafening whistle-bellow booming off of the brick walls and stone floor of the building, it's massive paws flexing, its terrible jaws yawning wide...

Only for Hector, the mad wolf, the patient wolf, whose keen sense had followed every movement of the Magath, sprang out of the smog and tore the throat from the beast. Steam poured from the jagged wound, the whiste-bellow trailing away like a boiling kettle stolen from a flame, and the Magath collapsed into a heap of twisted metal.

Almost immediately after the death blow, the air cleared, the smog disappearing like shadow falling away from light, and the wolves were left to lick their wounds...

Hector has other things on his mind. The rush of power. The retch of lungs cleansing themselves of tainted breath.

And that bloody gunk running over his snout!

[Kid]

The Magath goes down and Kid rips out a howl of triumph, of fury rightly visited upon a worthy adversary, of the hunt complete.

He swings his head about, looking for his pack mates. Confirms what his Luna-blessed inner sense had already told him: Iseult and Viola are both wounded. Notes the new addition with a throaty growl. But knows that this other wolf has helped them, so doesn't issue a challenge. Not yet.

Before doing anything else, he pads over to the Abomination's remains and sniffs, examining the thing where it's settled in a ghastly heap.

[Viola Jones]

That last whistle bellow rings in her ears, only offset by the pleasure of the near instant dissipation of the acrid smog.

Everyone's alright. Ish. There's a new wolf, but he'd helped, so Viola-wolf just eyes him before shaking her head. Her own wounds aching, but she knows it's nothing serious. It'll heal. It always healed. Still the rahu stretches, checking herself over testing her own state and huffs. Essence burns, cauterizing something a little to close to worrying for the Meninna.

While Kid noses the corpse, Viola pads around the scene, dead eyes keen, snout poised and smog free, ears twitching and swiveling hoping to catch a hint of...well. Anything.

Gonna use an Essence to heal a Lethal, Viola's currently at 5 Lethal.

[Tristan Hardt]

The quarry drops. Smog clears. His sacred duty has been upheld - though it seems more like a debt repaid. Indeed, the creature had brought this violence on itself. The Tristan-wolf finds himself surrounded by a pack of four - no doubt the source of the familiar wolf scent that lead him here. There is no apprehension in his stance.

The Magath, reduced to a pile of metal flotsam, is another story. Tristan carefully approaches the heap, giving the other wolf a wide berth. The Elodoth studies the thing's wounds, if for no other reason than to be sure its truly dead.

With a huff, and a puff, and a cough, Hector clears his snout of the remaining gunk. He takes a few tentative steps and when it becomes obvious the shattered Magath is simply not moving, he rolls back his head and makes a triumphant howl.

He howls for their victory over the twisted and unnatural spirit; he howls to celebrate the birth of a pack; he howls for the return of the People and he howls to lay claim to the area. His song reverberates through the Shadow.

Lost in his song, Hector forgets himself and bares his soul for all to see.

Its been over ten days. I think we should bring the scene to a close and more forward.
