It's very dark in here, which doesn't make the search an easy one. Still, Longstreet is certain there is... something here, some thread he could pull, yet too elusive to hold onto it firmly. With each step, he tries harder to examine every detail on the surfaces and to make sense of what he sees.

Taking the binder from Cross' hands, he quickly realized that most of the contents are complete gibberish to him. Cross probably thinks the same, but it'd be good to show this to the Japanese Dragon, Tomori. And/or Alice.

Examining the binders once more, he pays the most attention to the highlighted areas on the maps, and looks for any possible reason they could be marked like that, or if there is a link between them and the clippings.

Again, the thread is there, even more ephemeral than before. How frustrating!

If the other Haunt doesn't look like he still has business here, Longstreet says.

"Not a thing. I don't think we can find much else here. Let's go present this to the Seneschal."

The issue Alice was having now was that since she and Robert hadn't arrived together, she didn't know where his town car was. Sure, she could guess, which she did, but perhaps she guessed wrong. On her walk streets down from Joe's Repairs she hadn't come across the scent that hung around Robert, and his things.

It was on her returning loop that she receives the text.

She walks until her back finds a wall and her hears can't hear a heartbeat. She didn't know what was on the text, and her only way of discovering it was in a way anyone could. Alice listens to the text though her text to speech app.

She takes a few minutes to ponder. She intended for the Roberts to scout ahead, giving locations of the Alchemists, but to know they weren't even there.... it would be safe to just look at what's there now, instead of trying to take everything out, and this way if the Alchemists come back suddenly like the last time, they won't come back to empty rooms. Or rooms in the process of being emptied.

    First to Robert Cross
Sit tight. Gather what seems important, i'm coming to take a look

    Calling Tomori

    Then to Katsuro Tomori
Just us at Joes. Come in.

With those sent off Alice sets off from the wall and makes her way to Joe's Repairs.

Robert Longstreet is slow and methodical in his investigations. Its a process of elimination, closing out the spots on the upper floor where the ruination is too great or too obviously not that which will bear fruit for his particular investigation.

See, Longstreet knows the place is thick with dust and debris. What the Haunt is seeking is patterns in the dust; layers; the trace of the passage of time and occupation.

Its almost an impossible task. Almost.

Yet he finds it: someone had made an effort to clean up the area where the binder was found. The dust and debris is relatively new, bought in from some smashed in windows on the south side.

He also finds a "recent" footprint. It cuts across the print of a shoe near the stairwell. This recent print is... too thin... to be human. And it doesn't look animal.

Cross puts away his phone and looks over toward Longstreet.

"Alice and Tomori are on the way, let's head down to meet them."

Once the other Haunt is done with his investigations, the Burned Man will lead the way downstairs.

Even though they've cleared the place, Cross still feels on edge. The whole situation bugs him. Cold, blue eyes continue to probe the gloom as they wait for the others to arrive.

Longstreet follows Cross downstairs, ready to refer his findings to Alice Hart and Katsuro Tomori , and to listen to whatever the Burned Man had to say - he figured there's no point comparing notes now, mere moments before the debriefing.

Alice's approach is slow, the Doll took time to wait for the Dragon Lord, but Katsuro Tomori seemed not to want to join the Haunts in the repair shop.

The Wraith thrashes, because that's what it dose. Or at least it's what it does now. And will for months yet, when it feels the pathetic pull of Longstreet's Beast. Alice let's the Wraith thrash, it will to that regardless of her will, so the Doll focuses on keeping the thing chained.

"Longstreet," Alice greets with a nod, but hold's her tongue for another name, she didn't know if her Robert was beside the other one. "I can't seem to find Tomori."

    "Seneschal."

A respectful nod. The lack of a tangible Monster was starting to be familiar to Longstreet, just like the distinctive coldness and too-perfect lines of the blind Haunt. "Familiar" doesn't exclude "off-putting", however. In the dark interior of Joe's Repairs Alice seems even more outlandish than usual.

"We were able to scout the place before your arrival, and my people on the streets were quite forthcoming when discussing it. Apparently, a group of circus freaks - their description, not mine - squatted here some time ago. There was also talk of a glowing ball inside, I assume it might've been the notorious Beacon. Some time later a dwarf was found here, confined in a jar, but apparently alive and conscious. I've also heard a report of alien creatures scaling the walls and going through the upper windows and as skeptical as I was at first, there's no doubt these windows have been broken, and the claw marks on the doors and walls speak for themselves. We should also be wary of the local population of wild dogs, unless we can bring along someone adept in Animalism."

He was curious if there'd be any response, a shift on her face, a word of mockery. He knows how this sounds, he knows it's hard to believe.

"As for the evidence on the scene... I checked the exterior and found two piles, one of bottles and cans, the other of dead vermin. They were assembled on purpose, but what was it - I don't know. And get this - whatever dust is inside, especially upstairs, is new. There's also a footprint, neither human nor animal near the stairwell. It means someone was in this place shortly before us, maybe still uses it."

Longstreet doesn't mention the binder, and he doesn't have much to say on the interior. He glances at the Burned Man, indicating he's finished and waits for him to report his findings.

Cross emerges from the shadows beyond Longstreet, where he'd been keeping watch in the gloom.

"Seneschal," he says by way of greeting. There's a hint of warmth in his voice, enough for Alice to know that he's happy she's arrived safe.

After the other Haunt finishes his report, Cross picks up the thread:

"The beacon is still here. Inactive, though. As is the...dwarf in the jar. Signs of a struggle, or at least a sloppy robbery. The lab they were using is trashed. Strange glyphs scrawled on the walls. I don't know...how to describe them. We also found a binder upstairs with the same sort of drawings. Some notes in code, maps of the city, and pictures." He pauses, clearly baffled by what they've discovered. "I was hoping Tomori might be able to shed some light for us, but..." He trails off. Where could the Dragon be?

"In any case, the claw marks on the exterior of the building, the footprint upstairs, the intel Longstreet's pick up..." It's a disturbing list, "I don't think we should be here much longer. We can take what evidence we need and analyze it somewhere else." Somewhere secure.

"Should we take the orb, though? The...dwarf?" The Burned Man approaches the Thing in Jar as he speaks of it, peering into the container at the homunculus. Looking for any movement. Longstreet had, after all, mentioned that the Thing had been alive.

Voices come quickly, and information flows freely. Alice is still, her ear cocked as she takes in the spoken words, and despite what Longstreet believed should happen, Alice simply nods. These Alchemists created the Beacon, the ice off it, the sheer terror that thrummed through the Wraith, and the certainty she felt that the cause was an old god walking the nights...anything was possible after that.

She also remembered someone, Ale or Lady Stamford telling her about the dwarf in the jar, though at the time it wasn't living, or at least Alice didn't think it was living.

"Shame Scylla's gone. I knew she has some strength in Animalisum, without her here, I don't know of any other off hand. Maybe the Reeve..." but Ale didn't want to deal with the Alchemists. "Or her newest Cousin, Mable Wood."

Alice turns her attention to Robert and his half of the briefing.

"Interesting..." silently Alice curses Tomori's vanishing. "Yes, take the Beacon, the dwarf, the binders, and take photos of the footprint, the glyphs, and some scrapings of them. It might be interesting to see what they've been made out of...." she wanted to do a simple scouting mission, not something that would get them arms fulls of loot, and a possible compromised location. "After we're back in the car, I want to call the Alchemists." she finishes, she needed to know what was going on, or at least what they would press as the truth of what was happening.

Seneschal Hart stands still, her face unmoving, until finally her only shift in stance includes a barely noticeable nod. Longstreet wonders if she is so (inhuman) collected because of the things she's seen and done during her time as a Crone follower, or is its simply a feat of composure. Of one thing he was certain: it had nothing to do with being polite.

A shame that animal is nowhere to be seen? Um, how about no. Best thing they could expect from her would be disemboweling the Alchemists and then howling at the moon. Not the kind of person you bring along for business dealings. Of course, sharing any of these thoughts with Hart would likely make her more hostile, so Longstreet holds his tongue.

"Yeah, let's take what we can and get the hell out of here."

With that said, he proceeds to take photos of the footprint and the glyphs. If he happens to have some kind of safe container (like a ziplock bag) he will scrap some of the glyph material into it. The binders will soon find their way to the car's trunk. Longstreet will also help Cross in moving the jar and the beacon, if such help is clearly needed or requested.
