The piece of fruit that Mhairi chose was almost recognizable, though it was not yellow, like a pineapple was. Instead, it was a deep red, with purple swirls spiraling through it. The moment it hit her tongue, her world disappeared. For the space of a heartbeat, there was nothing but an all encompassing hum, a vibrant, pleasant vibration that filled everything. But then it was gone, brief as a flash of lightning. What remained, however, was a strange sense. A sense of everyone else moving around the room.
This fruit gives the effects of the Danger Sense merit, and if one already possesses the Danger Sense merit, the merit is effectively doubled.
Elsewhere, outside the experience of the Queen, Qiaolian gave a derisive laugh.
"If you think you're such a daredevil, then you've never met a courtier from the Glacial Axe."
The tattooed woman nodded then, to a pair of figures that stood off to the side, away from the other Lost. One was a man, who's eyes were a brilliant red, and his skin was as dark as a starless sky. The other was a woman, who's hair shone like rippling water just waiting to reflect moonlight, and who's features seemed to shift ever so slightly, as though she had no one true face to show.
"While it is true that we of Autumn understand Fear in a way that no other court can comprehend," Qiaolian continued, "the Court of Dusk is almost incomprehensible in their ability to accept death, and that which is even worse. There are numerous legends of members of the Court of Dooms marching back into Arcadia to fulfill the task they have set themselves. There are even a few tales of those that have returned from such a journey, but the Glacial Axe only sings songs about those that have embraced their fate."
