(Witch House) Recurring Dreams

Outside, Seraphina and Morgan obtain a ladder. Its a good, solid, ladder; old and worn, splashed by sessions and sessions of paint. A serviceable ladder that Morgan sets in place; and from which she scurries to the roof.

Morgan discovers the roof is fine and shows no sign of damage or infestation.

Seraphina follows Morgan onto the roof but with a lot less skill and confidence. The Fairest didn't know how high the Boarding House rose from the street till she was almost at the roof, with the wind gently tugging at her and the old ladder yielding ever so slightly to her weight.

Maybe that is what caused the rush of vertigo. Maybe it was just bad luck. Sera struggled those last few steps and positively scrambled onto the tiled roof, hands and feet scrabbling for purchase. There was a sudden rush behind her, a sixth sense of shock...

...And a thud. As the ladder fell to the ground, leaving the pair stranded on the roof.

At least they worked out that the new addition to the house reflected the new attic room, from which Erich Zahn had sprung.

Inside, Mhairi worked alone to settle the exhausted interloper. She had, it seemed, got him settled and drifting when a shadow blazed outside, out the corner of her eye. Then came the thud of the ladder as it hit the ground.

This scene has gone on for about three months now. I'm going to draw it to a close. We can continue in a new scene if you'd like...

...When Morgan and Seraphina get down

Erich Zahn had almost fallen into a complete and set sleep when a ladder fell to the ground.

If the man sees to startle himself out of all Mhairi's hard work she'll say, "That's just Morgan and Sera, they're checking for nests in the gutters I think. I'll go grab the ladder for them." and if he's still dozing, Mhairi will simply get up and make her way to the ladder so she can set it up once more, and hold it in place for the women on the roof.

A new scene sounds awesome! I can't wait to dig into it!

"And within the window, there tis the room," then came the thud along with a expression on Morgan's face. Then she let out a tired sigh: "and that twas the ladder." Before Morgan could finish gauging the best way to climb down, Mhairi solved the problem with the most important second step of inspecting a roof with a ladder: have someone hold it so it doesn't fall.

"Thank ye Mhairi!" she waves down to her liege. Then she motions for Sera, "After ye," she could hold the ladder on this end...and get down anyway if it fell...again.

Haha, cool! I'm good for a Part Deux...pretty sure Morgan is chronologically okay to take part, if it is a continuation.

[Seraphina]

Sera really wasn't sure what had caused her to freak out She never thought heights were an issue for her, maybe they were. Well, there kinda wasn't a maybe about it now.

She looks sheepishly at Morgan as she hears the ladder fall. Cheeks flush with embarrassment, "Shit! I'm sorry." well this was embarrassing. But you never really know how something is going to effect you until you're doing it.

And then the sound that saved the day...the ladder being returned!

A grateful looking Nix turns her face towards Mhairi, "Oh my god, thank you!" and after processing that Morgan said the window led to the bedroom in the attic, she was more than happy to scurry down the ladder. A look of relief on her face as her feet settled on the ground.
