(1611) Eternal Seasons Luncheon

[Morgause]

With the Autumn Queen's permission, and a favorable weather forecast, Morgause arranged a small party to be held in the garden of Edna's boarding house. It was a rather simple affair, with tables and chairs purchased from thrift stores, with autumnal table cloths and centerpieces made of dried flowers to tie everything together.

Well, and then there was the food. All provided by the talented chefs of Hannibal's Catering company...

There was quite a variety, too. Sandwhiches, soup, pasta, and salads of several varieties. A feast, as it were. But what else would do for the introduction of new members of the Freehold?

That was how Morgause view the event, at any rate. What the others would think she didn't know. She'd left it up to the Queen to handle the invitations.

[Malcolm Green]

Green was returning from the Hedge, his huge form wrapped in his equally massive greatcoat. His hair was damp and leaves were stuck to his head, for the Hedge had been wet and draped in mist. A sign of the Season. The mountain was used to it. A light bag bounced at his side - this expedition had not been to his hidden groves but to check on the Winter Court's remaining outposts.

The spread was a welcome and unusual sight. He slowed, change direction and approached. Before long, he was pouring himself a bowl of soup and stealing a hunk of bread.

"Huh? Who are you?" The big Elemental rumbled when his eyes at last fell on the Queen of Cats. "Just passing through or...?"

[Mhairi Ankaa]

Mhairi had made a few phone calls, only managing to get a hold of a few, and those who she didn't manage to talk to she'd left a message.

"Thank you again Morgause!" Mhairi called as she stepped out of Edna's backdoor, a tray of light and fruity cocktails in her hands.

"Oh Green! Glad you got my message!" chirped the Wisp once her fell-flames caught sight of the Mountain. "This is Morgause, a new arrival. Claiming to want to stay. There's another newcomer, Gwendolyn , she should be here sometime soon. I think." Mhairi sets the tray down on the table, "Morgause this is Malcolm Green, just call him Green." a bright smile and a nod.

Claiming one of the cocktails for herself, Mhairi continued, "It's always a surprise when we get newcomers appearing during Coronations." Especially considering considering what just happened. "Morgause suggested a party to introduce her, and Gwendolyn. Maybe see if any of the Courts would draw their eyes. They're both Countless." Mhairi said, all with her usually stammer, it seemed her speech therapy was paying off. Well, that or the strange additions the Wyrd and woven thru her.

It had been a shock to realize that she had a few hobs reacting to her strangely. But meeting that Brownie was a wonderful. Now she didn't have to worry about cleaning the toilets. And Edna's had never looked better.

Determined to get to know the Winter, Mhairi spoke the first thing to come to mind. "So, Green! How have you been?"

[Morgan Bellanar]

A light thump could be heard behind them at the tool shed's entrance. This was caused by a garbage bag, followed with a jeans and black t-shirt clad figure that closed the door as she stepped out. Morgan turned around, taking off her work gloves as she did so.

The paladin started at the arrivals, "Oh, heh, hello!" she tossed the gloves into one hand and waved with her free hand, "Uh, guess tis later then I thought, heh. Sup Green? And welcome Morgause." she looked to her Queen, "Uh-heh, the uh, shed tis cleaned, yup tis shed cleaned, heh."

Morgause wasn't sworn yet so details had to be hidden. After a pause she looked down at the bag. Then looked back up, then back down. "Eh heh-heh...be right back!"

Morgan snatched up the bag and dashed off to dispose of it around the side of Edna's Boarding House. Then she'd need to quickly clean up and return for the celebration. She needed to also ask Mhairi who was cleaning out the gutters and other housework at Edna's. The Beast needed to give them a thank you.

[Yog-Sothoth]

Gwendolyn arrived feeling in a fall mood so she decided to dress for the occasion. She wore a long sweater that came down almost completely covering her hips, a pair of bluejeans, and some cute short boots that made her think of fall.

The flamesiren carried a small case of hard lemonade. She didn't know if drinks would be appropriate for a luncheon, but it seemed polite to chip in and with the tray of cocktails she seemed to have guessed right.

"Hi!" she said with a beaming smile to everyone. She made her way over to set the drinks down and join in the conversation.

The lone man present was massive and she found herself looking up at him. Lost seemed to have a lot of people on the extreme end of the scale.

"Hey Mhairi, Morgause," she said in greeting. "Nice to meet you...Green was it? I'm Gwendolyn."

[Malcolm Green]

"Uh. Yeah. Thats right, I'm Green. I should welcome you on behalf of the Winter Court, then." Green nodded his great head at the Flamesiren. "Welcome."

His eyes drifted to Morgause before sliding across to the Autumn Queen. Somewhere in the background, he saw a familiar racoon appear and then vanish carrying a bag of refuse.

"Uh. OK. I guess. Lot to do and not enough hands to do it." It was a simple response - but then again, Green was not known for his flowery language.

[Mhairi Ankaa]

A dripping fingered hand waves at the sight of Morgan, come and gone, with a promise to join them soon.

"Gwendolyn! Hi!" Mhairi smiles as the Fairest sets her hard lemonade down on the table. "Sacramento to your liking?" she asks, taking a half of a sandwich triangle, and one of the fruity cocktails for herself.

Her smile easing into something lighting when Green didn't glower. Mhairi thought that this would be a nice compromise, to introduce the new arrivals instead of leaving it up to fate, chance and the wyrd to take care of. But she didn't actually know how the Winters would feel about this.

"Ahh yeah." she says nodding at Green's words. "I feel you there. It seems there's always so much to do...but there's not enough time to get anything done!" the petite wisp was determined to get to know Green. They'd have that coffee. And be friends (hopefully) before the Winter Coronation!

Mhairi nods, she was an Elemental on a mission! Then flushes. Remembering that she's not alone. "Hi?" she says, hopefully no one would say that she was acting weird.

[Morgause]

"There's not really anything else to dooo," Morgause replied, with a roll of her eyes. "The caterers have delivered the food and the tables are all set up. I suspect some people just have a hard time relaxing and not trying to look busy. Sadly, this is a time for lounging and eating, so there's not much to be busy about."

With that Morgause picked up a picked up a plate and strolled the few feet it took to reach the buffet of food.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you, Green," she replied over her shoulder, "thank you for the interest. To answer your question, I'm looking forward to settling in here. Hence the welcome lunch I put together. Now then, why don't you settle in. Tell me what you'd like and I'll fetch it for you."

[Malcolm Green]

"Uh... I got what I need. Just something to warm me up, yeah?" The mountain gestured with his bread and bowl, neither of which looked sufficient to fill his belly in his huge hands. He did seek out a seat though, wincing as it creaked and groaned dangerously under his weight; with his legs stretched out he took up one table completely.

"Uhm. Thanks... for this. Its ah... Newcomers generally don't roll out the welcome mat like this. They just show up for the coronations, you know?" He gestured again, this time with his hands free. After that he was concentrating on tearing apart the loaf without flattening it.

He ate for a moment before speaking again.

"Hope you don't mind living on the edge, then. We are a small hold and we got some big enemies." By the tenor of his voice he was not meaning to threaten or instil fear. He was simply being honest, and brutally so.

Back to Mhairi: "Thats always the trouble. Best you can do is plan and prioritise. At least you can never be bored around here. Too much to do."

[Morgan Bellanar]

Morgan returned rapidly from inside the Boarding House. The fuzzy layer over her hands and face was still damp from washing off...whatever had been there from the "shed." Another newcomer had arrived. She greeted the firey woman with a smile: "Welcome, heh, Gwendolyn was it not? And ye brought refreshment? Thank ye! I think there tis an opening upon yon table," she points out and is willing to guide Gwendolyn to the table, "How art ye doing? Tis safe to ask various questions heh here. No normans around."

The Paladin of Shadows does hear Morgause's comment implying Morgan was a busy body. Or was it a workaholic? Shaking her hands to dry them more she quipped: "Nary my fault the spri-er-surprise problems came up whilst cleaning the shed. Best to get it done right though, heh."

Then she faced Morgause smiled, "And much gratitude for thine charity Morgause, heh. Tis a bountiful feast ye hath provided. Thank ye," She turned to see the scene between her Queen and Green. Morgan blushed at old memories about when she was the newcomer showing up at the coronation. She treated herself to a sandwich, quickly eating half of it.

That part about being a small hold with big foes made her chuckle darkly, "Always glorious to have ye around Green. Glad ye and Mhairi art socializing well. And verily, we used to be a vastly larger heh hold. But Green? Might I inquire if our friend Nathan tis attending? I hath nay heard aught from him yet."

Morgan's eyes darted about the gathering. Not in wariness but simply in an attempt to pay attention to everyone.
