The trio of Haunts, their task finished, walk towards the Necropolis entrance. Even with scalding water, the phantoms of grease and tiny claws still caress their undead skin.
At least it's over though. Now all they need to do is report their success to Gilroy and try their best to forget what was required to achieve victory over the mass of rancid fat.

StatusDressed in fresh clothes, his undead flesh scrubbed and scrubbed again, Cross can still feel the filth on him. It's like he's absorbed the rancid water, the bits of congealed blood, shit, and rotten detritus into his very being, body and soul. He's sure he'll never be the same again.
Indeed, tonight's events represent another step away from being human, another step toward accepting what he already is: an undead monster, a plague upon the living, having more in common with that horde of rats than any Breather.
Flat, blue eyes occasionally pass over his companions as they walk. He can't help but wonder if they feel the same way.
Silently, even contemplatively, he leads the way into the house, through quiet rooms, to the padlocked door. Unlocking it, he motions them through, following them down the metal steps into the Necropolis itself.

There wasn't enough hot water in the universe for Alice to feel better after a night spent in that underground hell. Shuddering at the memories that would never leave, and wishing she cared less and baled like Jack had. But it was for the Deep Kingdom so Alice would continue to grit and bare it. Even if the memories of the sight, scent, and feel of-of everything had caused the death of something within the Doll.
Mechanically Alice follows Robert and Joseph down the street and into the house. Idly Alice sees that it's taking shape. Nicer then the last time she'd seen it. At least something of theirs wasn't drowning in the memories of being covered in shit, and bile and worse.
At Robert's gesture Alice follows him down the metal grated stairs and into their Kingdom.
Solace found in the fact that it was safe from kine scrutiny.

Why. Why had he agreed to go into the sewers? He felt as if he would never erase the stench, which would be fine if he shut off his sense of smell and stayed in the necropolis forever, but he had to actually meet with clients at some point and the paranoia was enough of a hurdle as is. Instead of dwelling on the smell of regret he got dressed and headed to the Necropolis to meet Alice and Robert.
Seeing them he followed Robert down into the Necropolis to meet with Gilroy. "Well I'm certainly glad that's over with," he said with a playful tone in an attempt to lighten the mood.

ObfuscateGilroy entered from the direction of the Temple. His scurrying, shuffling steps bring to mind the sound a cetipede might make as it crawled out of its hole. In his arms he held some dry cleaning bags in a manner that suggested he either didn't care if they got wrinkled or didn't know clutching them so tightly would have that result. He set them down on a bench as he approached the group.
"Priscus Greenberg," the title still felt strange "Constable Cross. Caretaker Hart."
"I heard there was a shooting of some kind at the work site. I trust that was you?"
I just wanted to make sure before I reacted. Are Alice's eye gone at this point?

StatusMoments after they've entered the Caldarium, the Regent appears. As always, the Burned Man has to fight the urge to dismiss this monster as below his notice. At this point, Cross knows better.
Halting, he offers Gilroy a stiff bow. "Seneschal Gilroy, good evening." At his mention of the gun fire, Cross has to suppress a frown. Things had worked out, but he's still not exactly happy with himself when he considers his 'plan.'
"Yes, that was us. Only a distraction, however. No one was hurt and there shouldn't be any trouble." At least Cross hopes. The two cops had seemed suspicious, but satisfied, especially after Grant had put in a good word for him.
"And I'm happy to report that the blockage has been cleared without further incident," he adds, neglecting to mention the horrors they'd confronted in the sewers.

A fixed plastic smile etched upon Alice's lips as she ducks her head in deference, offering a hollow sort of curtsy.
Alice rises and nods in agreement to Robert's words. "We broke up the ick-obstruction without the kine present in the sewer." Alice added, jerking as she remembered the ick that still clung to her. The sight of the rats...their teeth...
I'm going to say that since this technically took place within a night, that Alice still has her eyes, but if the STs think it should be otherwise, since this isn't in continuity yet, and her BL is... Yumyumcrow , Matrixchild verdict?
