The story so far. Father Nathanael has followed a woman home from Club Inferno, using his powers of Obfuscate to shadow her invisibly. He is now inside her apartment. See "Cloak and Dagger" on the Requiem forum for details.

Nathanael doesn't find any children in the apartment. He does find kids' rooms, but no kids asleep in their beds. It would seem she made plans for them to stay overnight with her mother while she spent the night partying.

    Nathanael hears a shower running.

Looking around, he finds multiple pictures of this woman - Gwen - with two children, a boy and a girl. He also finds one bedroom door - presumably Gwens - closed.

While being mindful of the constant beat of the shower, Nathanael investigates the area around Gwen's phone. He takes note if the device records incoming telephone machine numbers. He looks for a little book next to it or beneath it, but if that fails he will expand his search. He is searching for Gwen's mother's phone number, or more preferably her address.

    Look back, Nathanael
also checks by the front door to see if any spare key's or key cards reside.

Nathanael finds no spare keys or keycards anywhere near the door.

Roll Wits + Investigate to see what else he finds.

Nathanael notices a computer desk with a lot of things on it, and thinks that the most likely spot to find a phone number or address book... but there is a lot of clutter there, and he hasn't yet noticed it when he hears the shower turn off and the curtains pushed aside.

Nathanael is content to wait for Gwen to go to sleep. There are plenty of hours of darkness left.

Gwen comes out of the bathroom, a towel on her head, drying her hair. She opens the closed bedroom door, goes in, and comes out a bit later wearing a t-shirt several sizes too large for her, hanging to about two inches above her knees. She goes back into the bathroom, hangs up the towel, opens the medicine cabinet and takes a pill, uses the toilet again, then shuts off all the lights and goes into the bedroom, closing the door behind her.

Nathanael stands still like a statue and waits patiently. While waiting he thinks about the last meeting with his so called covenant, and smiles at the memory of one of his more witty comments.

The dark is no problem for his enhanced vision. When at last he feels Gwen must surely be asleep after her busy night, he begins a thorough search of the computer desk.

Eventually Nathanael is able to find her Gwen's phone number/address book. Under "Mom" he finds an entry including phone number and address.

Nathanael is satisfied with that. He copies the information into his notebook. He considers stopping for a drink before he goes, but he wants as little to connect him with this woman as possible.

Nathanael slips on a pair of thin black gloves and pulls the envelope from his coat pocket. He opens it and sets the contents down just inside the front door.

    I have your child.
I will kill him unless you go to Inferno tonight and kill Samael.
    Tell no one.

The note is a classic letters cut out of newspapper serial killer job. A small printed image of Samael rests on top of the note, as does a loaded .22 Caliber pistol.

Nathanael presses his ear up against the door and uses his heightened senses to listen for footsteps. When he believes the hall is clear, he opens the door, locks it, and closes it behind him as he leaves. The camera's will see him either way, so there is no need to hide himself until he gets onto the street.

I'm doing God's work. He's killed a lot more people than me.

    Moving out
