(1507) Sanctuary - From On High

Sun dappled days seem to stretch for an eternity during the Summer time. Outside, the flame tiger lilies are in full bloom and the nearby American and Sacramento Rivers are gearing up for July Fourth Festivities that will happen as the sun sinks beneath the horizon.

This afternoon, Consilium will take place on the roof-top of the Bismark Hotel.

It took some doing. Something about OSHA regulations or what have you. Aquinas gave the hotel-staff a look of sympathetic understanding, and then did what he needed to do anyway. Took the key-cards and inserted the idea that one of their best clients has permission and not to worry.

Oh well.

Informal seating is once again arranged for the cabals of the Consilium and a central table for the Hierarch and the Councilors.

As each mage arrives, the rack of non-alcoholic drinks sits in constellation with a bowl of ice and chilling water bottles bathing.

Aquinas sits, his knee holding up the ankle to his opposing foot while Zilker talks, hands in his pockets.

July arrived early. As a new sentinel he wanted to make sure he was there if he was needed, or to stop any problems before they start. Before leaving he made sure he had his protections up and got dressed. He was wearing his usual outfit of blue jeans, cowboy hat, and boots. His shirt was a tan button-up shirt with a black blazer. He came into the Bismark Hotel and went up to the rooftop as instructed. Once he got up there he saw that only Aquinas and Zilker had arrived, and he hadn't had a chance to talk to Zilker yet so he approached the two.

As he got close he said, "Aquinas, good to see you." He then turned to Zilker, "I don't believe we've officially met. I'm July."

What a fucking joke. It was just a big, giant wank fest of one of the most powerful Lies that had ever been told to millions upon millions of little cogs in one of the most powerful economic, military, and entertainment conglomerates in the world. A conglomerate (definitely this one, but more like all conglomerates) that had absolutely nothing to do with freedom, not unless you were talking about its suppression.

Just ask the Civil Rights movement. Ask Waco, Texas. Ask the ghosts of hundreds of thousands of Japanese American Internees. Ask AIM and the witnesses of Wounded Knee. Ask the victims of US funded South American Contras. Ask those who fought the Regan endorsed Apartheid government. Ask the numbers on corporate reports that represent all the slain civilians lying next to the slain soldiers dying in fields of precious, precious oil. Ask the people of Cuba, Congo, Iran, Vietnam, any of the countries whose self-determined governments were overthrown, or attacked, by the FREEDOM LOVING AMERICA!

AMERICA. WHO IS THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN HOW TO GROW FOOD, ONLY SO IT CAN SURVIVE TO COMMIT GENOCIDE UPON THE TEACHERS.

That was why a black armband was wrapped around Avis' upper left arm as she walked out onto the roof. It was the only change in her usual attire of running shoes, sweat pants, and a white tank top. Silently she stared flatly out at the Sacramento skyline.

Striker entered the roof top and looked at those present, making eye contact and giving a nod to those who looked at him. He took up a position, sitting casually where he could keep an eye on those entering.

He had his usual mage sight and shield at the ready and had also keeping an eye out for any spirits that may be around. You could never be too careful.

Just the ones that can be worked with. Like the whole Invisible Man on stage? it took a while to realize that Illusion was actually a pretty good trick. Just... not on stage. But everywhere else.

The shutter on the DSLR that Ermon had bought Asp flipped, capturing an image of the city. The image couldn't see what Sight saw; rivers of fire, blossoming energy in lines and whorls. Shadows on a cave wall, pixels in bytes.

Does Crowley have anything other than metal-T's, black jeans and sneakers in his wardrobe? Going by today's ensemble the answer would be "no." It is a crisp new T today: Slipknot. Chains jingle as he walks. He is taking off his sunglasses, folding them, and hanging them from his collar; his other hand is raised, shielding his eyes as they adjust to the glare of the rooftop.

The Enchanter steps out. Raised hand becomes something of a salutation for Striker, July and Aquinas. Lowering it, he manages to incline his head toward Star (who looks busy with his camera). After a long pause he reluctantly does the same to Avis and Zilker. This was a Consilium meeting and he was Herald, after all.

Still squinting he sought a seat and flopped ungraciously onto it.

"Am I early?" He asked the empty space that hung between the gathered mages of the River City.

Truce carries with him a sliver of dread. Another Consilium gathering. Truce isn't quite sure if he's recovered from the last one. But there's nothing for it. He has a responsibility and he's dead-set on following through with it. At least there's no Trial to hover over them like a dark cloud. And luckily there's no unfortunate weather on the forecast, especially since the meeting is to be held on the roof of all places. It seems an interesting symbolism, an aspiring to greater heights, rising up above pettiness and base urges. Or maybe he's just reading into things again.

The Necromancer comes wearing a long-sleeved button up shirt and tie over black slacks. Rather plain and simple. His bejeweled ring sits on his right index finger. A new phone in his pocket, and the supernal workings wrapped neatly around his pattern, save the botched Imago of one.

A glance is given to each of those attending Awakened, but he remains apart from the others for the moment, only nodding his acknowledgement to those whose eyes his meet.

Emrys was both dreading and excited about Concilium. On one hand it was always stressful for those charged with leading the Concilium, but at the same time he was now one of the shepherds to the Concilium's budding flock. Worry and hope had plagued him since the Path meet about what was going to happen today. Would it go smoothly? Immediately sideways? Would he be a steady pillar of the community moving forward or the next in the Enchanter's revolving door of Councilors? Was he just really overthinking the whole situation? At least he knew the answer to the last one.

The freshly minted Councilor arrived a bit dressed down, still not sold on the lie of appearances despite the rise in station. Eyes scanned the mages present, nodding and smiling to each. When he saw the Heirarch he walked over to the Warlock. His current company wasn't the sort he wanted to converse with, but he was hoping for a private talk anyway.

"Excuse me Sir." He said to Aquinas before smiling to Zilker, and grudgingly acknowledging July with a quick glance and a fading smile. "Do you have a moment to talk before the proceedings begin? I was hoping to get your opinion on some things real quick."

With tentative steps, like a cat testing the waters before deciding to swim in, Flidais went through the hotel and travelled to where she believed the concilium to be.

The most dangerous moment with animals can be the introduction, how will they react...

Flidais looked over herself once more before entering, plain dark pants, professional looking shirt. Should be fine. With a calming deep breath she entered the concilium. As a sign of good faith and not sure of the local concilium rules did not have any spells active. Once in the room her eyes darted around looking for anything unusual or interesting while she just tried to not draw too much attention to herself, at least until she got a grasp of the social landscape.
