(1501) Consilium

[Mage ST]

Winter has come with its full fury and might, even in Sacramento the chill can be felt. The clear day filled with the wan, weak light of winter and has given way to a chilly night – it'll even hit the low forties when all is said and done. Tonight, the Consilium is being hosted by the Guardians of the Veil at Hostel Hi. For the Libertines, the place might be contentious – or it might be ancient history to be sloughed off like a second skin.

The Hostel tonight is empty of guests and is home to only one, Bishop; custodian of the Hostel. He has taken it upon himself to get things comfortable and secure, with the Mage Manning the Door to greet the arrivals. A conference room has been reserved, with the wafting aromas of foods and drink off in the corner. To his credit, Bishop has spared no expense on the preparations from white-linens to a wash of warm light. A banquet table is reserved for the Council and Hierarch, with other seating arranged by Cabal.

Gina is the only other person there and if asked, will only make a face at the 'offending' asker. She will however direct the convocation of magi : the ground floor is open, the first floor are for guests and the other floors are restricted to only Guardians. She also mentions a couple of Capsers in the basement, but doesn't say a whole lot about them.

The second Formal Consilium has arrived and many are interested in seeing pains of a Consilium Birth result in something one can be proud of.

[Jhet]

She hates being early. It's against her natural instincts. But tonight is not a night to only be on time. Maybe it really just means that she's on time and everyone else is late. Everyone else can just be on their own time then. It grates at her preferences.

She brings what she needs. Her copy of the Lex. There are only a handful in existence currently, and they've not been distributed yet. It's in her bag, and she dresses business casual. Because this is business for her, but not quite so formal that she needs to kill herself dressing to impress. She has work to do, and she wants to be at least a little comfortable doing it.

She only nods to Gina on the way in. No purpose in starting a conversation as she'll have plenty of talking to do over the course of the night. She just hopes it all goes well.

[Truce]

Truce finds the Hostel well enough, adjusting his Mage Sight with a series of Rotes while seated within his car in the parking lot, as was his habit. When he stepped out he could be seen wearing a dark grey suit and pale blue shirt and tie. He hopes that the formality isn't wasted and perhaps others will treat the event with seriousness.

The last gathering had been very informative, and Truce is eager to hear what news there is to hear about the finalization of the Lex. He sees Bishop manning the door and stops for a moment to greet him. "Bishop, good to see you again," he starts politely with a nod and the offer of a handshake. "Fine of you and your affiliates to host this event." He understands that he should not clog the threshold however and will move on into the Hostel foyer as more arrive.

He nods politely to the Acanthus Councilor should their eyes meet.

[Pepper]

Unlike her Councillor and Cabalmate, Pepper loves being early. She's wearing one of her suits today, and feeling more normal for it. She liked the dresses, sure, but she never felt ready for business without pants.

She gives a respectful nod to Bishop as she enters, "Evening." She keeps that short though, and enters to see if anyone else is early.

One things for sure, she wasn't expecting Nous. Pepper shakes her head as she her Cabalmate, and raises her eyebrows. "Okay, if I had known you'd be here so soon, I would have stopped at Starbucks. Anything I should know about?" She looks around again, and spots one other Mage besides the Hosts, and gives a wave to Truce from where she was.

While Miach usually didn't care much whether he arrived early or late, he had purposefully tried to be early this evening. The Acanthus wanted an early word with his Councilor, and he knew she'd have her hands full before long. Since he didn't know how formal it would be, the doctor had elected to wear a blue stripped suit that could fit most gatherings well.

Arrived at the door, he gave Bishop a grateful nod. I know you've toiled to make this happen. "Good evening, Bishop." but he didn't dally, both because he had something else to do, and also because he was right in the middle of the way.

Inside, there were only four persons present, and he smiled as he noticed Gina. Someone familiar. But his business was elsewhere. Nodding to Truce whom he was sorry to leave hanging, the Acanthus went to join his two Path-mates. Tower-mates ? Fool-mates ? Whatever.

"Good evening Nous. Pepper. How are you ? Can you spare me an early word, please ?" he asked once he was sure he could talk without bothering them.

It was the first time, that Bishop had taken to organizing an event of such magnitude. The hours before the opening had been some of the most stressful in his carreer so far. Now that everything was under way, there was no more time to be nervous. There was only going with the flow and directing its course. He was immensely grateful for Ginas help, even though she seemed less than happy in doing her job after hours. Bishop would see to it, that she would be recompensated to the full extent of her service.

Right now, he "manned the gate" in his formal dress, tailored and fitted like a second skin.

He shook each of the arrivals hand and directed them inside. He was curteous to every one, but since he was merely at the door, no real conversation was possible. At any rate, he was the host. That meant every breach, every slight and every turn under his roof would reflect on his position and in passing also on his order. It was the house of his order as well and from what he had learned from his absent cabalmate Reverb, it had once belonged to the Free Council. Bishop hoped, that the Libertines had the spirit to show grace in defeat rather than using this evening to plot for a coup-d'etat to retake this property. He was not sure, how that would play out, but he sure as hell had no time to prepare for a siege. He had two assets. Two ghosts patrolled the basement and top floors, directly reporting activity to him. The other was his own spatial map of the whole building, which registered all persons moving about it.

He also hoped to rely on the Sentinels should protocol be breached, but Bishop was less than sure, if they would actually intervene along his lines of command should the need arise. They were per definition the guardians of the ruling body and executors of law...a law which had yet to be ratified.

All these things swirled around his head, while he stood at the door next to the red carpet, shook hands and gently ushered people into the great conference room.

[Crowley]

Leather creaks and boots clomp as Crowley makes his way, wreathed in cloying smoke from foul foreign cigarettes. His mouth is a hard line tonight that clashes with the apparent merriment in his eyes.

Two meetings in and they are already slinging barbs out at us. Talk about diplomacy. Maybe I should track this Jammer guy down so when the old FC has to host this we bring the Apostates in. Let the righteous bastards squirm a little having to come... down in the world...

Fuming on a slow burn, he did not bother to stub out his cigarette.

"Where?" he asked the word simply and directly, moving off once he had his direction.

Play nice. So he inclined his head to @Bishop as he passed. Crowley had more important things to do than chat with a Guardian and bit back a pithy remark - 'Mind if I take a look around?" Instead, cigarette still between his lips, he huffed and puffed, smoke curling around his head.

He went straight to the spread. He would not be ambushed like last time.

Apollo made his way into the Hostel with a bit of guided direction given by Bishop, reciprocated by a nod and a word of thanks from the Talon. He didn't know what exactly was the plan for this meeting, nor did it particularly matter to him at the moment. Perhaps later, but not right at that moment. Today was perhaps the best oppurtunity he would have for getting acquainted with the Mages of Sacramento.

Apollo smiled and shook his head slightly at the once familiar feeling of "first day in the cafeteria with nobody to sit with." that'd been an issue throughout schooling. Settling for the choice that'd most likely match the most faces with names, Apollo approaches the growing group of Acanthi, oblivious to the coincidence. "Hey, I'm kinda new in town, putting names to faces and so on. Name's Apollo, Enchanter with the Arrow. Er, sorry if I'm interrupting anything."

Gyges shows up somewhere between early and on time with an overcoat and his unremarkable suit, a lit cigarette between his lips. People are still arriving, so Gyges takes this time to keep smoking while watching people show up. Since this was going to be a formal gathering, he figured he had some time to indulge his habit before it was called to order, but otherwise he was pretty zen about everything. He gives Apollo and Bishop a nod, as well as anyone else that he recognizes from his time here in the city.

[Weavebreaker]

Weavebreaker didn't feel the same stress going into the setup that Bishop did. She was relegated to grunt work, which she fulfilled wholeheartedly. The logistics of it all, of what all went into setting up a Consilium meeting, and a formal one to boot, was simply astonishing

...and her muscles felt weary from the effort.

Before she knew it, it was go time. People were beginning to trickle in and her eyes scanned the place wondering if she had missed anything. Those few moments were the most stress she had felt through the whole endeavor, yet it faded quickly. Nothing seemed missing and nothing seemed out of place. Still she figured it never hurt to ask...

"Everything looks good. Is there anything else you can think of?" Weavebreaker said as she stepped up to Bishop's side. She was ready for a short reprieve, especially before the inevitable cleanup that would go down once this baby wrapped up.
