The Ballo Della Notte: a wonder of architectural beauty! The old facade retains an Old World ambience.
As the local Kindred approach the front doors, they will notice the high glass windows darkened by long black velvet drapes for added security.
The lobby is a breathtaking arc. The whole lobby and atrium is awash with plush velvet cushions, long, colorful drapes from the high ceiling to the polished marble floor. The hand carved woodwork on the walls is burnished to a shine. The tall marble columns recall the glory of Rome and Greece.
The doors at each end of the entrance arc are closed. The lights of the lobby are bright and colorful this evening. Bright pink, blue and green lights illuminate each pillar in different places to highlight one's attention to them. The ceiling lamps have been changed as well, and the pink color washes over the marble floor. For the keen observer, these colors were reminiscent of the so-called Four Color palette of early Golden age comics.
Dozens of large flat screen televisions have been erected on the walls of the lobby and entrance corridors - each flashing an ever changing kaleidoscope of images of various superheroes and villains spanning the ages. Mixed in with the flat screen televisions are posters. Each one varied from modern day heroes and heroines, to ancient Greek Gods and Goddess statues.
Small round tables are placed throughout the lobby, perhaps a place to rest a purse, mask or cape.
The soft and gentle strains of one of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto's and the themes from Philip Glass's Akenhaten opera flitter from hidden speakers.
