Biting was a terrible choice of topics for maintaining Morgan's calm. It was all well and good for former predators to make those jokes, but as former prey she really didn't appreciate it. The worry showed on her face as Sam made his joke, the teeth really didn't help. The weak, very nervous laugh from the Beast stopped dead with Swilla's retort. Now she was fidgeting as worried eyes scanned everywhere.

Still, she had to be respectful, especially to someone bigger than her that bites! She nodded her head rapidly, "G-g-g-good, n-nice remember be me, heh-heh." At least Swila's Mask was up. There were enough sharp chompers visible to set her on edge already. Sam Hain's smile and biting remark made the twitchy Beast squeak out: "I-not."

This conversation was making Morgan most uncomfortable.

    The Sewnskin Doctor

"Who in their right mind passes up free booze?"

The Fae-Cat spoke up at last as he took a seat with the others. Even with the Bouncer a-jangling his get-the-fuck-outta-there senses, Grim wasn't going to pussy out of a drink in front of his fellow Autumns just because some maybe-Ensorcelled-maybe-masked dude with biceps that could pulp his face was looking at him like a security-risk. "Turkey Booze? Too early to be thinking about Thanksgiving but I'll bite, Sam."

The Raccoon's ramble-ambling evoked a forced half laugh from Grim. Somebody likes throwing names around the Mundies.

"Don't know where you got that name, Morgan. Don. Don Coakely."
No matter how many times he said that fake name it always tasted bitter on his tongue. He still had that fake ID stuffed somewhere in his pocket. Crappy piece of work from a two-bit forger who scammed Grim for three times the worth. Didn't matter really; he took the money back and then some the next night over.

He leaned on his elbows and peered at Morgan. Unconsciously, he began to work his jaw back and forth, incisors slipping past each other. He raised a hand to lazily point at Morgan's panicky features and cocked a brow.

"You. Have I seen you before? Ever been to Chicago?"

Well, that was a normally name wasn't it? Probably the name for the normals...though quite a few of the traceurs she ran with had strange enough nick-names she often failed to get why Lost names were abnormal. In her circles most folks ignored strange names, exception when the nick-name really didn't fit. "S-sorry sorry, heh. Used tooth pick-names w-with athletes c-crowd, heh. N-not know proper nomen-er name of boast-toast-most of them, no-nope."

And then he leaned in. It would have been fine except for the teeth, that made Morgan shudder and lean back. With the seat right behind her back, there wasn't much leaning she could do. She still tried, managing to seem to shrink inspite of the impossibility of doing so. The question he asked stopped a flinch before it could start. He asked what? Her reply was less frightened and more confused: "Chicago? Yeees, been there. Hung out at the club in Chicago, so-to-speak," she let out a snort before continuing in a miffed tone, "Pranky jerrr--wait. Wwwwhy?"

She was know scrutinizing Mr. Coakley. Was he familiar to her? The teeth brought to mind many bad things, naturally. The Chicago courtiers had been gleeful in reveling Morgan with tales of the Freehold's "cleaners" that ate their enemies whole. She no longer trusted any of the stories they'd told that had scared her. At least he wasn't one of those Spring dinks that had kept pranking her back in Chicago. No way is he Spring, wrong-off persona for it. Could be other court prank-jerk. Though some who messed with her probably weren't Springs. The only ones she knew hadn't was the forger guy.

In hindsight, Morgan was never going back to Chicago.

"Sure. I'm in if you're buying." Green responded guardedly to the Pumpkin. His eyes drifted over to Swilla and then back to the table; the Elemental was still trying to puzzle out what exactly was happening at the table. A thought, slowly seeping into his brain, was that the club was reserved for the Onyx Court alone. Big Swilla most certainly seemed protective of the place.

Degnar revealing himself threw Green. Another one, seemingly returned from the dead. The Elemental paused and took a double-take. The only sound he made was a grunt - of surprise and acknowledgement, both. He remembered of course - Degnar had been the other part of a Motley that had been opened to him shortly before the Dragon had struck; he hadn't exactly met Degnar, but had been working out an arrangement with Smudge, Degnar's Elemental friend.

    Maybe its back on?

The thought, unbidden, lodged itself in his mind like an annoying fly and wouldn't go away.

Degnar nodded at Sam's offer, his question about who was paying for the drink finally being answered. "Sounds good. I'll give this turkey breed thing a try," he said to the Darkling. Anything was better than the cheap whiskey he and Smudge used to drink anyway, but the Tunnelgrub did miss those outings with his friend. "Will you be joining us?" he asked as he turned to face Swilla, hoping that the big lizard guy was not currently on the clock.

"Sam here has offered to pay," he added, figuring that perhaps that would be more of an incentive to indulge. Having said that, Degnar turned his attention back to Green, figuring he would at least try to make some conversation with the Elemental. "So how are things?" he asked as he addressed the Earthbones. "You haven't seen Smudge around, have you?" He couldn't help but ask about his old friend, since the Cyclopean's presence had always made him more comfortable when he was out and about in public places.

Big Swilla eyed up Sam for a couple more moments before looking back to Degnar as the Darkling spoke to him. "Nah, bro, on the clock. Gotta get shit straighten' ou' 'fore it gets busy. See ya 'round,"

With that, the bouncer heads back down into the cellar where its dark and cool.

Hain's rictus grin held strong as the big fellow walked off. When the man vanishes into the cellar, the Pumpkin shook his head with a frown, "Shame, I was hoping to share a drink with him." Sam's left hand shot up in the air, snapping his fingers twice calling for the waitress. "A round of Wild Turkey Rare Breed for the gentlemen and a glass of ice water for the lovely lady, please."

Turning to the group, "So, how is everyone? Anyone have anything exciting to share?"

"No. I ain't seen him. Not since the terrible things of last year. Sorry, man." A note of sadness drifted through Green's voice. He fondled his beard absently - an excuse to let his drifting hand let loose a few signs. Need talk. Privacy needed. Only a Winter Courtier, versed in the Icelaw would have been able to pick up on the meaning.

"Exciting? Not really. Things are pretty quiet, wish is good, yeah? Things are tense enough without other stuff dropping in to make things worse. Our... uh... community... is only starting to gets its shit together, right?" He considered if he should take a mouthful of beer, decided to wait.

"If you want to work your angle, now would be the time, yeah. Things is opening up." Green made a grin - a goofy chasm splitting his face in two.

Morgan turned her attention to the rest, still warry in case Grim HAD been one of the "pranky-jerks." The name Smudge was familiar, she must have heard it before. Or it just could be the verb the name was based upon. She gave a weak, uncertain smile when Green added himself to the teeth-showing crowd. Her instincts were null on how to react to the big rock-teeth that didn't register as "gonna eat you" teeth. "S-sorry, h-heh haven't heard of a Smudge mah-self. Least not-think herald-ear of him, heh."

As for other news, Morgan didn't have much to give for "excitement." Well, she rubbed the arm of her jacket over where she still had some band-aids on, no, dog-troubles not Freehold excitement news. "No club-ish excitements j-just many standard-regular inducted me-excites, heh-heh. Sage-show too guess, m-maybe I try nin-nin-next? D-did find useful turtle-uths via Sage-ing-show," Finding out Fairweather's name was helpful, except many already knew it. All Morgan had done was spread it more.

Which might be good, "L-like the dr-d-d-dink t-that, um-uh--" had to put it best? Bland maybe: "thrashed? Yuppers, that, the o-old club's house-place-office. B-but some already knew, heh-heh."

Degnar nodded in response to Swilla's words. "Take care," he said to him before turning his attention back at those around the table. When Green told him he had not seen Smudge around, the Darkling became silent for a moment, considering what may have happened to his old friend. Hopefully he got out and managed to go elsewhere, the thought to himself.

As he remained silent, he noticed Green's subtle movements with his hands. Surprisingly enough, Degnar managed to figure out what the Earthbones was trying to communicate, and he simply offered a nod in response, signaling that he had understood the message. The Tunnelgrub remained in silence as he listened to the others talk, trying to garner some information from their small talk.

When he felt like it was his turn to say something, Degnar simply shrugged in response to Sam's question. "Nothing exciting on my part," he said to the other Darkling. "I just got back into town, so I'm trying to figure out what's been going on myself..." he said, letting his words trail off as he waited for their drinks to arrive.
