Adam Chen & Macgrueder Scene 5

"Look. It's simple," Tal said, managing to keep her voice level through sheer force of will. Her pinky and ring finger tightened on the grip of her pistol while she spoke. It took almost as much effort not to shoot the damn mutt sitting behind her. "We're offering two things. Pounds of money, or grams of metal. Pick the right one and you keep your kneecaps. All we want is information and no interference. Now, take your pick."

Enough with this flip-flopping. Either they Chen and Mac helped them or they were just obstacles in the way. Strange wind and voices be damned. All that mattered was finding Diane and putting her kidnappers in the ground.

Macgrueder's eyes narrow as he looks to Tal. He takes a step forward, clenching his hands into fists at his sides. Perhaps worst of all, the dog sitting by Chen's feet stands. The hair on it's body raises as it snarls, revealing a row of white needle sharp teeth. This dog advances at Tal, standing a bare six inches in front of her knee cap. It's body coils low to the ground as to spring forward with it's powerful muscles. Yet when Alistair speaks, Macgrueder begins to relax. His body turns as he faces Alistair, taking a step towards Alistair. His hands uncoil from fists and rest by his sides.

"Yeah," MacGrueder nods slowly. "Yeah. This place is just Hell. We're constantly watched for compliance - Cole and Vick are just the Sheriff's stooges. To be honest, I've been trying to think of a way to get out for weeks. But the Sheriff swore that he'd have me arrested and framed for something that would put me away for years. I just can't go back to jail, man".

Earnest shame and regret shines in MacGrueder's dark eyes. His confessions seems to loosen some of the tension in his shoulders.
"What do you need? Your asset is the girl?" He turns to look towards Chen. Where he had been angry and confrontational, he now nods, encouraging.

"I saw them roll on her." Chen admits, regrettfully. His eyes are on the gravel ground, ashamed.
"Sheriff, Cole and Vick rolled on her while the Deputy watched the Old Man's room. Handcuffed her and placed her in the back of the Sheriff's car. She sat for a minute while the Sheriff went into the room. Then they drove her off."

"Then I know where they would keep her." Macgrueder offered helpfully. Eagerly.
"She's at the Gulag."

"They've acted like this before." MacGrueder stated slowly to Alistair, nodding to the dogs."I'm a little worried about it." Macgrueder confided, his tone troubled. His eyes were downcast, focused on the dog in front of Tal's feet. This dog that had looked up to stare into Samael's eyes so unnaturally.

"Heel." He stated to the snarling, angry dog menacing Tal. The dog that was behind Tal, sniffing at the back of her leg, pulled back it's teeth and snarled as well. The noise raised the hairs on the back of your neck. The dogs take no attention of Mac.

Mac's expression clouds into one of concern. "Hey now," Mac snaps his fingers at the dogs. "- Ruger, Colt - heel."
"Mac." Chen stated, visibly alarmed. The color was draining from his face, his complexion beginning to take a sickly yellow cast.

"Colt - heel." Chen demanded, his tone high pitched and wrapped with nerves. The dog behind Tal glances at Chen and licks it's lips. The third dog remains in front of Jodie, growling.

"Uh... not so much?" Jodie responded from her place as her cellphone had been tucked away and her gaze at settled on the dog in front of her. She had the gun in hand, in her purse, and ready to shoot. It was a dog. It was just a dog. A very snarly dog. A part of her winced inside as she looked at her situation. She'd gotten into all of this because she'd needed a bigger gun. A bigger gun with which to shoot a big dog. A very big dog. If she had to.

She didn't want to. Damnit she didn't want to hurt anything, and if a gunshot went off in here, how much havoc would that cause to those outside? "I move, this thing's gonna be at my throat." She couldn't pull her punches. This wasn't like hunting, this wasn't 'I'll have another opportunity later'... this was 'shoot the fucking gun or lose your damn throat'. So that was precisely what she intended to do. She had less than two paces to be out the doorway, and that was where she needed to go.

And giving them a heads up that she was about to shoot a dog seemed valid so that they didn't panic at the sound of gunfire outside their line of sight. But she didn't really wanna alert the dog, either, because she could swear it understood what they said. Her gun was pulled from her bag and aimed at the dog in a flash as she took a slow step backwards towards the door...

The ambiance of the parking lot was quickly going down hill. The dogs were becoming more and more agitated - the teeth were drawn, the muscles were tense in preparation for launching into someone's body. Alistair read the situation and gave clear instructions to his cell on how to attack the three very large guard dogs. As Jodie's gun came out, the dog in line of sight with her tensed in preparation to jump onto her and gave a high pitched vocalization. The two dogs out of sight heard this sound, they prepared to attack...
