Tal limped out of the room, trying not to look too flustered, and went to stand by Alistair. Trying to make a show of solidarity and numbers. Things that could not be done lurking in the motel room doorway like children watching the parents arguing over their punishment.

"Look. Chen. If D'angelo is a problem, we'll get rid of him,"
she promised, mouth pressed into a thin line. She tried to pitch her voice low enough so it wouldn't carry to Macgruder but he was closing fast, and who knew if the dogs, with their disconcerting eyes, were all they appeared to be.

Perhaps there's some surprise in Jodie & Alistair's minds when they realize that the 'bulk' that MacGrueder & Chen possess is not layering. There's hardware under those clothes... perhaps something just as nice as what Alistair himself donned upon arriving here.

"You think its that easy." He looks at Tal with raw emotion on his face. He turns to Alistair, looking raw and hopeless. "You roll in here and solve all of my problems, hm?" Bitterness tinges his voice.

"You get one chance." Chen whispers. "I know that Mac saw you from the restaurant and he called me out here to play with you. But I think he called someone else, too. You get them out of here, one way or another... I'll help you."

Mac was quickly approaching. You had time for a few quiet words now. How much trust and conviction can be built up in a few moments? Chen looked emotional, harried and full of hope one moment, depressed and bitter with the next. Would Mac see these expressions on Chen and become suspicious of whatever you were whispering?

    "D'angelo."

You were watching Chen when the wind itself seemed to whisper the name. Chen jumped and glances around, clearly surprised. Fear and dread enters his eyes as he looks back to Tal & Alistair. The dog at Chen's feet begins to growl. Its low and menacing.

"Hold." Chen whispers. The dog's haunches lower to the ground, quivering. Eager. It's eyes flick between Tal and Alistair.
"Hold." Chen says more firmly. The dog's head moves almost lazily, indifferent to glance up at Chen. Something unnatural is in its eyes. Something... alien in the intelligence there.

    "D'angelo's mine."

Where was that woman's voice coming from? Something was seriously wrong with these dogs. The one by Chen is aggressive...

Alistair's eyes flicked between Chen and the hound as he spoke. "You got it, Chen, but trust goes both ways. Help us talk down your buddy here," he said quietly --

    --what the fuck was that?!

That voice on the wind. Claiming D'Angelo. Alistair immediately connected it in his mind with the ghost in the picture. So it could talk? There was nothing here to say those words, yet there it was nonetheless. He looked around, a frown crossing his face. His eyes locked with Chen's. He'd heard it too.

"We'll come by your office when we're done, okay?" he murmured to Chen, half by way of conclusion, half by way of setting the next meeting for his turning.

Nothing more was said. His eyes flicked over to Macgreuder. "Hello!" he said politely, pleasantly - that same social butterfly that had met Chen just minutes before.

He didn't need to tell Tal and Jodie to stay sharp. It was implied when there were fucking whispers on the wind.

Whispers where something that Sam could handle--after all, he had learned about proper noun Whispers in the past--but the people here bothered him more than anything else.

A monster's a monster, he thought to himself grimly. Hopefully we can use the division of Chen and MacGreuder to our advantage.

The dogs bothered Sam as well. Hellhounds can be pretty damn intelligent... What exactly am I looking at here?

    To All
The blanket on Tal's arm causes a trickle of sweat to form on her skin. The sun is now well into the sky, bringing its full force down upon them. The sounds of the secluded area are deep and seem inpenetrable. The silence seems to make you hyper aware of the click of the dogs nails against the gravel as they jockey for position, staring at the four strangers. Those black noses twitch, seeking to capture all of the olfactory delights waffling through the warming air.

    "They're usually obedient." Chen frowned.
He looked at Alistair for a moment after Alistair's statement, watching him even as Alistair turned his attention to Macgrueder. His eyes linger on Alistair for a beat. Macgrueder approaches and pauses a good seven feet from Tal and Alistair. Macgrueder gives Alistair a long look as Alistair greets him. That look was initially cold and unfriendly, yet it begins to soften as he lowers his eyes to the dogs at his side. The dogs move forward, sniffing thier fellow at Chen's feet for a moment. The dogs do not wag thier bobbed tails or carry out other signs of canine greeting - a quick eye contact, a sniff - and those eyes bore into the four strangers. Macgrueder frowns for a full minute as he stares at the dogs.

"Hey." Macgrueder stated, low key. He lifts his eyes from the dogs and looks between Tal, Alistair and Samael.

    "What are you doing here?"

    To Samael

Samael notices that something is definitely wrong with the dogs on a supernatural level. The smell of brimstone is not upon them, however. They are not Hellhounds. As the voice fades into memory, not speaking for these next few seconds, something clicks. Diesmbodied voices are a sign of... His memory churns slowly, the hot sun burns down upon them. ... restless spirits. Restless spirits that are great with age can affect animals. Especially powerful ones are able ...

The memory trickles away. Perhaps some more time to concentrate would be helpful.

The blanket was making her arms uncomfortably hot, almost itchy despite the sweat starting to roll down her skin. The grip of her gun felt slick but she kept still, refusing to adjust her hold of the weapon. It's weight against her fingers was comforting now that six eyes glared up at her. This "Mac" might be armed, but that didn't strike Tal as the most dangerous threat present. Her eyes flicked between Mac and the dogs behind her sunglasses and she fought to stay still and not fidget. She kept silent, letting Alistair direct the conversation.

Alistair looked Macgreuder right in the eye, that authoritative facade still on. "Oh, just a team of nice folks who are here to figure out where an asset went to about thirty minutes ago, Mr. MacGreuder. Not to worry. We know who we are looking for, who the real perpetrators are, and who the men are who are stuck here and looking for a way out are."

He smiled. He was their beacon of hope.

"My name is Thompson. This is Harris. Her name is David." Like Dav-eed. Israeli. Tal looked like she could be a Dav-eed. "And if you cooperate with us, we can help you. Both of you."

Sam was more than happy to let Alistair do the talking. It gave him more time to focus on the weirdness going on around them. Maybe we should be professional investigators at this point; Al certainly sells it well enough.

He turned his thoughts back to the voice and the dogs. They're not hellhounds, but that voice definitely seemed to have an affect on them. He frowned. This was exactly the reason why Sam didn't have a pet; the things were always too sensitive to spirits and the like.

Jo tucked herself quietly back behind the doorframe, having not been introduced and... man that voice gave her the chills. She cast another glance around the room for a moment before sending the three pictures from Diane's phone to her own silenced phone. Ugh. She was against looking at that thing more than once, fucking haunted phone, but on the off-chance that those pictures would share something... and, of course, the other thing.

A text message went out from her own phone to a number on Diane's. To Jamie.

Mac's eyes widen at Alistair's statement. For a minute he gapes at Alistair. His gaze then swings to Chen. Chen flinches at the ferocity in that gaze. The anger.

"What the hell, man? What'd you say?" Anger rolls out in Macgrueder's voice. Anger and fear.

"Don't be like that." Chen protests, somewhat defensively. "Come on, Mac. Think. You wouldn't go near the... you know. For awhile now. I thought that -"

"That I'm no longer attached to my knee caps? That'd I'd like being sold to some back roads baron to entertain him?" MacGruder turns to Alistair.

"You serious about this? I mean dead serious. That's where this is heading."

Macgrueder gave Alistair his full attention until the dogs move past him. Macgruder turned his head to watch the two dogs that had come with him. The two dogs walk between Alistair and Tal, growling low in their throats. They are large, muscular dogs. Up close, they seem much more intimidating. One stands behind Tal, it's bobbed tail moving slightly as it's nose twitches. It leans its muscular neck out, taking a deep breath. It's hot breath puffs out on the back of Tal's legs.

The second dog moves towards the hotel room door, it's nose sniffing on the wooden door jam. It's head lifts, the black nose twitches as it senses the air. It's eyes scan the hotel room door, searching... The dog steps across the threshold of the hotel room. The large guard dog walks up to Jodie. It nudges the bag in her hand with it's nose, a low growl rumbling out.
The first dog sits by Chen's feet, staring. Always staring at Tal, Alistair and Samael. The confrontation becomes more chilling when a cold breeze wafts over you. Instead of sweating from heat, this new chill raises goose bumps on your arm. The drops of sweat now chill your skin.

That dog... Looking at that one dog with the alien calmness in it's eyes, Samael gets a chill. The dog looks up at him, meeting his eyes. When do dogs hold your gaze? The expression is odd on the dog, it's neck wasn't designed for such a confrontation. Restless spirits can affect dogs...
Samael realized. If you add in the disembodied voice, the cold spot and the super - imposed image on the cell phone - this was starting to develop into a ghost - and a powerful one at that. To linger very long, it had to be holding onto some serious emotion...

    MacGrueder looked over to Chen.

    "What's wrong with the dogs?"

"They've been aggressive with them." Chen noted, nodding to your cell.
"Not good. Not good at all." MacGrueder sighs.
"The other two with D'angelo?" Chen asks.

"These dogs will be able to find you through out the whole area." Macgrueder chews his lip, not replying to Chen.
