One delightful phone call down, Coco searched through her contact list before dialing the next, and last number on her list...
Mal was a remarkable progressive amongst Women.
She had embraced the idea of the 'pocket', and went out of her way to acquire garments that possessed this fantastic, innovative feature. And more to the point, had a Cell Phone old enough (and thus compact enough) to fit in them!
So it was with remarkable speed she had her phone in her hand, the little green icon that make it work jabbed, and the infernal device to her ear.
"What?" she barked, grumpily.
"Mal-Mal! This is Coco!" the enthusiastic voice on the other end of the line said, grumpy hellos or no. "Now! I would love for this to be a social call, but it's actually concerning a very important matter, so do not prematurely put your phone down. Still on the line? Good, then let me ask, are you feeling particularly Sir-ly today? Because you're much needed by this duelist brave." There! Hopefully that was hint enough.
Mal's thumb twitched. That tempting little red light that would make all the verbal Diarrhoea go away calling to her. Singing it's siren song. But she withheld.
Coco would probably just call her back, anyway...
"What do you actually want?" she asked, with a resigned sigh. Readying herself for another bout of conversational whack-a-mole that was trying to pick the salient points out of Coco's diatribes.
"You," Coco replied blithely. "I need you to meet me for a drink. There's something you need to know, something concerning your Summer job. The one that makes you so Sir-ly. So, come stand with me at the Nox. As I said, it's concerning an important matter."
"Puns and double-talk? Really?" Mal grumbled, petulantly. "I ought to bloody well hang up on you!"
There was a pause. A break in the conversation - almost as though she were wrestling with herself. Trying to just hit that button and make the Wasp go away... but... she... couldn't...
Not without finding out what was so damn important.
She was becoming the Dildo she hated.
"Fine." she growled, with resignation. "...where the heck is Nox? ...What the heck is Nox?!"
"Of course it's double-talk!" Coco replied, rolling her eyes on the other end of the line. Normally she didn't mind Mal's obstinacy, but they were all playing a dangerous game, whether they wanted to or not, and she couldn't afford being ignored. "How else does one deliver sensitive information? and if you hang up you'll be failing your people, Malory Grey, mark my words! Now get over to the Nox. Now! It's a club downtown, on the corner of [[some street and some street]]."
A heavy sigh rattled the ear-piece.
Normally Mal was quick to spring to action. But she found it hard to take anything seriously when it was pushed through the filter of Coco. There was as much chance the pesky Spring was engaged in a cunning plot to sucker her into 'going clubbing' as there was of it being any truly dire situation.
"I am on my way..."
"Delightful. Look for me," Coco said and then hung up. A drink would be oh so nice about now. Maybe something colorful...
