Machines lined the walls or comprised the island at the center of the humble coin-op. Mostly front-facing, each were in a different state of disorganization. Some of their circular doors were open, hanging without a care in the world while others were proudly closed. Most of the Tide soap packets in the dispenser where already spoken for; leaving just the drier sheets available to buy.

The floors were awash in linoleum that should have been replaced 15 years ago. The corners show their wear and tear, as they peel or are just non-existent. Tables at the back presented themselves to fold clothes, vending machines were stocked with chocolate and soft-drinks, and a fuzzy green-cast television was set to a news-channel.

Strangely, the Space Invaders cabinet still worked and worked well. Probably the gamer gentleman agreement to not wreck the relic at work.

David was loading clothes into one of the front-facing washers. He's been here a number of times before and knew the tricks: like bring your own detergent. Ever since learning to open his senses he's been here far more regularly, attempting to combat the scent of formaldehyde that permeated everything around him. His skin was flushed with stolen life though the graveyard shift employee – crunching on corn-chips at the entrance – probably wouldn't have noticed either way.

Paying the machine for its time and stepping around the orphaned pile of wet-laundry, David headed for the Space Invaders Cabinet.

It's been a while since he last played it and got a measly 1000 points.*

There was something to be said for living with three women. Especially in a place large enough to hide from them. Pros. Cons. He'd run through nearly all of them in his head when he'd pitched the idea. Been right about some, wrong about others. Surprisingly wrong about others.

Thing he hadn't quite adjusted to?

Underthings, hanging here and there. Aether only knew who what belonged to, too. Awkward, yo. Forget for one second that they were there and turn around? Get a face full of lace. Or cotton.

Really, the only down side to the theater was all the plumbing was in one place, and that wasn't ever going to change. Showers. Bathrooms. Sinks. Which is where the laundry machines had to go. Mostly? He'd figured out their schedules. Worked around them. Had to, with the showers. Every now and then, the dirty clothes stars didn't align, and he'd forget to do when the coast was clear.

So laundromat. Besides, he needed some Thinking Time. Because Friday.

"Hey! If, uh, if they're not running? Free to use, right?"

Had to yell over the beater machines. Best to check. People got wack at laundromats.

Pepper was dressed as casually as she ever was, carrying a jug of detergent in one hand. She didn't have any dirty laundry immediately on her person - no, Tanya had to carry her own things. "Seriously, what even is that? I'd guess oil, but it's... not black."

She only wanted to know what it was to get it out. And, well.... Leave it to the Thinker-Tinker to get something unidentifiable over her clothes and just leave it. Pepper was glad that suits rarely needed cleaning and that she hadn't put any of hers in the hamper, 'cause whatever it was had dripped and smeared off of the one shirt of pants onto everything else in it.

Which was the mess Steph saw when after dinner and she had maybe flipped out and demanded that they take care of it right then... thus the late-night clothes cleaning trip.

Mace followed her sister, lugging a hamper-full of clothes. "Failed experiment," she said. She wasn't that much of a chemist anyway, but the idea had intrigued her. "It's this idea for a corn-starch polymer based lubricant, kinda like motor oil." There was more to it of course, but Pepper didn't like Alchemy that much anyway. She'd already dispelled any of the alchemical effects, but the stains remained. More to her chagrin.

Besides, what she didn't want to tell her sister was that before long, the stuff would probably start seeping through the basket. It might be for the best that they were here tonight.

Ezra carried a small duffle bag of clothing, a bottle of Trend detergent what was called the poor mans Tide and a small box of fabric softner as he entered the Laundromat. He was taught to wash clothes by his parents, and it was something Ezra continued as his mother's words of warning pranced in his head, Ezra! Cleanliness is next to Godliness, you'll do good to remember that. Finding a machine away from those already inside the establishment seemed easy, and he sat his stuff down on the nasty floor which strangely felt comfortable to him.

Ezra was dressed in a Black hoodie, zipped with hood up and blue jeans over black combat boots. Unzipping the hoodie, Ezra smells it before opening the washing machine and tossing it in. He now has a grey muscle tank on instead.

Ezra's hair is slightly unkempt from hiding under the hood of the hoodie but he runs his hands through his hair as he bends down to grab the duffle with some of his clothes inside. Raising up Ezra sets it on the edge of the machine as he opens it, reaching inside he pulls out a couple of pair of pants and puts them inside the washer and then looks inside the duffle after glancing about to see if anyone is watching before bending down to sniff the things residing in the bag. Catching a foul whiff he dumps the bag into the washers, maneuvering so that nothing falls on the floor, like his underwear. Ezra sets the empty bag onto the floor, he then reaches inside the washer to place the clothes just so right as not to make it unbalanced. Seeing appeased Ezra then reached inside his pocket for the quarters which he was glad he got before coming to do laundry, putting the right amount of quarters into the machine, Ezra sat it and then thought.

Picking up the bottle of liquid laundry detergent Ezra opened it and started pouring the contents inside, he thought since it was a cheap brand that half a bottle would suffice, and once the first rinse cycle ended he could stop the machine and add more quarters and run it through again without soap the second time but as usual Ezra was aloof when it came to this part of life but he hoped his actions would appease the Laundry Goddess or God above. Thinking, Ezra did another strange things, he opened the box of dryer sheets, smelling how breezey and mountainy they smelled he threw a few of them into his wash before closing the lid and allowing the washing machine to either wash his clothes or choke trying too. He sat the bag, detergent and dryer softner sheets on the now running washer as he looked about the room.

David peered around the Space Invader's cabinet, after a quick disapproving look at his score, towards Star. “Yeah,” he said, though it was too soft and he answered again – louder this time. “Yeah, if it's open they are free.” He did not sound like he normally spoke above a certain decibel level, his voice audibly uncomfortable yelling.

Because the employee, munching on their corn-chips just out-front was not going to be any help.

It was far easier at night to get things done, but anyone with two eyes to see could see the veritable battles that took place during the day: clambering for the right machine, carving out a space at the folding table, buying the last soap packet. The rolling baskets drifting around with detritus was all that remained of the follies of the day.

Mace and Pepper's arrival brought David away from the video game, fixing his things so he takes up as less room as humanly possible. He nodded at both while arranging everything in his basket to be just near to his machine, which the mortician checks in the interim. Still, the phrase 'failed experiment,' caused a curious brow to raise but it was something he couldn't ask about before Ezra's emergence into the Laundromat.

Sure, Ezra seemed like just another at the coin-op but David's Companion knew differently. The harsh screech of a shrike called, wanting dominance over the Beast that just entered. The Companion wanted to impale the offending creature on thorns. David's knuckles went white around his basket as he exerted his own Dominance over his own Beast.

The moment passed, David reached into his pocket, checking his change but really checking to see if he had another few games of Space Invaders in him.

Laundromat Club? Same rules as Urinal Club, yo. Take the furthest unoccupied 'spot'. First guy gets his pick. Second guy takes the furthest spot. Third splits the difference. And so on. Except he was technically the second guy, but the fifth guy just dumped his stuff in. Without any, you know, words. Just 'Boom'. And now chicks. It was anarchy.

Whatever. Laundry Badger don't care. Can't ruffle these dryer sheets. Because Spring Meadow softness.

He slid over closer to Lanky and upturned his backpack. Not because he wanted to creep on what the guy was washing, but because video game. He was definitely Next on that. He stirred the clothes, making sure they were evenly distributed --dont' be the WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP guy-- and tossed in a detergent pod. Carrying around a whole bottle of stuff? That's for newbies. He deposited his quarters and ratcheted the handle with authority. All business.

    "You got next on that?"
he asked David as he peered at the Space Invaders machine. "And. Uh. Does it do anything else. Like, other games? Or is it a juke box, too? Or serve drinks? Like it's a vending machine, too, right?"

Thing was huge, yo. Way too big for those terribad little block things falling down. He'd seen smaller magic cabinets people got stuffed in.

Speak of the devil people stuffed into small spaces.

People might have their own opinions on Fate, Destiny and stuff like that. Some might say that the only sure thing is death and taxes. Others, that God doesn't throw dice and everything is planned. Faith, herself, was at times pretty inclined to believe that if they did exist, gods were mostly uninterested in anything lesser than them - on personal level. They just liked to have some entertainment.

On channel Bee4, sitcom "Big Bang Story". Faith's washing machine goes down just as the woman wants to make a big wash. Audience laughs.

Faith had pretty small choice in what to do. With a kind of accepting resignation she washed what needed to be washed by hand, packed the other stuff, the pods and headed to the laundromat she found on the Internet.

Seeing Cut inside, the redhead didn't even blink. She already knew - Reality was out to Get Her. So she just entered, duffel bag in her hand looking funny against her dress and heels, waved with a smile and little "Hello" to the mage she met back in the Circle of Creation, and looked around the machines to choose one free that was in the best possible state, that just happened to be close to the one Cut chose.

While unpacking all the stuff (among that, Ocean Mist pods; the coincidence was noted with a half-smile) and sorting the clothes, she asked the Guardian with a casual tone in her voice:

"So how's the thing with Mandy and the others?"

The sweet, fragrant smells of roses mixed with lilacs emanate from her as she casts magic. The scent intensifies, bordering on intoxicating, when Life magic is cast. When Aurora casts Vulgar magic, the scent takes a nasty turn, to the putrid, nauseating odor of a rotting corpse. The stronger the magic, the more those around want to retch at the smell.

The one thing she hated about not having her own place yet, was having to use the laundry mat to wash her clothes. But it had to be done, and so she found herself dedicating a couple hours to the task. So she grabbed her laundry and her purse, in which she tucked a deck of tarot cards in, best to pass the time.

In she breezes into the building, the smell of detergent and softener invading her senses. Held in one arm over her hip was a basket filled with various clothes and detergent. The other hand held a sugar free white Monster and her iPod. She had on a pair of jeans and an off the shoulder fitted shirt, and her blonde hair was down and wavy around her face. Her head was keeping beat with whatever she was listening to as her eyes scan for any free machines.

She spotted on towards the back and makes her way over to it, placing the basket on top of it as she took a sip of energy drink. She was either into her music or was just no observant this evening as she started to unload the basket. Which proved difficult with the ear buds in, stupid cord, so out comes the music.

Pepper was busy setting up her washer (It was as equidistant as she could manage between the already Claimed) - but stopped when the dude who came in after started pouring directly in his. "Whoa! Uh, you do know that you're supposed to measure that out with the cap, right?" She was pretty close to actually stepping up and grabbing his bottle away from him, but trusted that her comment would carry.

An well, she'd also notice the blond guy with the little pod thing, and felt a bit silly for having bought a bottle when she moved. Mental note: When this is gone, get detergent pods. And oh, hey, Cute redhead knows Savvy blond guy. Right.

"Cornstarch polymers? How would that work?" She turned back to T, then frowned at the basket. "And we're going to need to clean out that basket once the clothes are in."
