[Wolven Pryde]

The night is still wet from an earlier rain, out here in The Barrens. Light, that is to say, working lights are few and far between. But they are multiplied by the many puddles, adding a surreal and surprisingly bright quality to the surroundings. Suffice it to say, contrast is high. There is good visibility, but the shadows are deep.

Somewhere in the mess, Aileen MacFarlane answers her beckoning call. But David Regan and Emma French are in hot pursuit to rescue her from... from whatever the enemy has planned.

A lone, long abandoned warehouse stands silently. The meek Shadow knows this is her destination. Somewhere in that heap of graffitied metal, the opposition awaits. It's been a long time she was last sighted in this Domain. By mortal reckoning, anyway.

She's been very patient, that's for sure.

As Aοleen made her way toward the woman was calling her, she pondered what that was all for. They had suspicions, but few hard facts about what was actually going on. The young Shadow knew she was kept in the dark, but such shady business she had never dealt with before.

Would she go in alone, or would she be met by Martha's alleged reinforcements ? Regardless of other parties involved, she knew she'd rather be on the safe side, and the Dragon called on her familiarity with stealth to merge with the nearby shadows before going in.

Emma drove very fast to say the least. She didn't say a word in the car and was glad that David didn't have a million questions for her. But then she really didn't know any more than he did. Except, maybe she did. Suspicion etched her mind that it had to do with the disappearances. Were they to be the next amongst the missing? Should she go in as a changed form? Water splashed over the windshield from the puddles on the road. Emma had one question for David before they reached the destination, "Do you need to feed?" Her voice sounded calm but she felt far from calm. This night was never going to end. She forced her beast to remain quiet and did her mental exercises to still her mind. Francesco would keep. Dillion was heading to Cedar Fields. Martha would be fine. Kacey would be fine and hopefully wasn't like other Daeva's she knew. She should introduce her to Cal. He would be a good mentor to her. Emma looked at David. Thank goodness for his mask, hopefully her beast wasn't making him too crazy. She certainly didn't need him turning on her.

It takes a circuit or two, but Aileen finally finds an accessible entrance. Most of the doors, both loading doors and common steel people-doors alike, are shackled or barred. Or perhaps locked from the inside. There is one corner, however, where the metal sheeting of a rolling door has decayed and been peeled up. It can't easily be seen, unless one is actively looking for a way in, due to being blocked by a garbage dumpster on one side, and a long forgotten cargo trailer on the other.

It has, however, seen much use. As one inspects, it is revealed to have an inner layer that must be shifted aside to allow entrance. A bit of scrap metal that is leaned to from the inside, providing an impromptu door. Both the awkward stoop and shuffle under the lip of the actual door, along with shifting aside the metal to allow entry, will break the Mekhet's Cloak of Night.

But through here is where the unknown woman awaits. She can feel it.

Meanwhile, Emma and David careen through the mostly deserted streets and closed facilities. Some are only closed for the day. Some are closed until further notice. A few, are condemned and in sorry, varying states of disrepair. None of the stragglers that they spot are revealed to be the small Aileen MacFarlane under the Mask of Tranquility.

They actually pass the address that can be the only viable option to the destination, given the directions that Martha had passed to them, through her. But they pass it because at first, she's nowhere to be seen. But between the two of them, they are able to conclude that the abandoned warehouse must be the location they are looking for. Doubling back, what should feel like a stone's throw actually feels like miles.

It's a good thing that the distance was short enough for Aileen to make it on foot in this one night. Because her companions' advantage of a vehicle has allowed them to catch up to her in a reasonable amount of time.

While she had hoped to come in under the advantage of her Cloak, Aοleen alas realized that it wouldn't be a viable option. Unsure about what would happen though, the young Mekhet called upon another power of her Blood to perhaps help her do things the safe way.

Invoking Heightened Senses

She was there, straining her ears and smell on that only unlikely entrance, gauging its potential danger, when she heard the unmistakable sound of someone coming on foot. Safe in her Cloak, she stepped deeper in the shadows, waiting to see who was coming, and for what purpose.

Friend, or foe ?

Emma was glad to have a second set of eyes so she could watch the road. Once they actually found the place she shut off the lights and engine so she could roll to a stop with as little noise as possible. She parked behind the building next to where they thought they should be. On foot she followed David relying on his shadow instincts. "I'll follow your lead." She whispered.

Aileen easily hears the sound of familiar voices approaching, but she cannot delay for them. Not until she actually lays eyes on her summoner. Or any of her other senses, really.
