    Asp

Asp was totally not usually the kind of girl that got all excited about Girls Night. She followed the Iliza Schlesinger model of a fun night out; usually, it involved a decent bar, a few drinks, and not a complete absence of guys. Girls Night was not her thing usually.

But when it came to Arrow Action Movie night...

...guys totally sucked at picking action movies. The Expendibles? No, thank you. Jason Statham? Nope.

Quentin Tarantino? That was more like it. It just a matter of convincing Avis of the wisdom of Kill Bill. It was time to get some David Carradine in over fruity drinks. Or beer. She had both.

Asp's apartment was barely unpacked, the essentials put away while most of her meager possessions were still in a neat stack of boxes in the corner of the little dining nook in the small one-bedroom apartment she lived in. She had a worn black cloth couch, an IKEA table, a little TV stand, and one of those 40'' flat-screen TVs you got for signing on for a couple of years of contract with a service provider. It was totally on loan from Dad. There wasn't much on the walls, but hey. By the sounds of it, it wasn't like she'd be staying here long.

They'd get their Hallow, and then there would be mana and roommates. Sounded like fun.

Vulgar: Color drains from the immediate area and depth perception becomes temporarily skewed, everything seeming to draw in uncomfortably close, making rooms smaller and all but distant objects seem in reach.
Vice: Color drains from Avis and her facial features seem indistinct and grainy, as though her identity is growing less defined.
Virtue: Colors appear more vibrant and everything seems to become grander in scale.

Avis knocked on Asp's apartment door and then stepped sideways, turning and carefully pressing her backpack against the wall so she couldn't be spied through the peephole. Grinning she stretched her arm sideways and knocked again. It was a silly joke but she was curious how the other Arrow would react. That, and she thought peepholes were creepy. Their name bothered her, and more importantly they weren't very good security. Just take all those movie scenes of people getting shot through doors because they trusted peepholes. Well, ok, that was incredibly unlikely to happen but Avis kept getting reminded of those scenes as she went through her list of possible movies to watch and they inspired this silly prank. In retrospect, it would have been more fun to use it on one of the guardians. Maybe she still could.

Animus rounds the corner shortly behind Avis. He wasn't entirely sure what the joke was, but quickly decides playing along would be more fun than not. With a quick grin for the other Arrow, he grabs a spot of wall on the opposite side of the door, likewise out of site from inside.

There were sounds from the inside, near the door. The door unlocked, and slowly creaked open inward.

    Asp wasn't in the doorway.

    Cue the Mission: Impossible theme.

When the door opened with no Asp in sight, Avis held her arm out in front of Animus' chest, signalling that he should wait. She let the silence build for some seconds, debating whether she wanted to end the prank or take it further. She didn't want to call it quits just yet, but she knew she was potentially playing with fire, depending on how paranoid Asp was feeling tonight. Eventually an idea sprang into her mind.

"The Vegas families send youse their regards,"
Avis suddenly yelled, a New Jersey accent heavily coloring her words, "with some east coast hospitality."

Animus nearly bursts into laughter at the accent, but catches himself.

Noise discipline. A predator who betrayed its presence too easily to
    prey quickly died of starvation.

Instead he waits quietly, for any sort of reaction. Perhaps this was another combat exercise, and that was the joke.

There was silence within. Then, movement, deep inside.

"Say hello to my little friend!" That totally just sounded like Asp doing a bad Pacino impression.

A little orange cat, lightly lobbed into the hallway from out of sight, landed on all four feet and stared at the open door.

    Combat exercise indeed.

Avis started snickering and dropped her arm. Yeah, she'd definitely have to try this on the guardians.

"It's not an attack cat, is it?" she asked, dropping the accent. "Animus and I come in peace. We promise to leave your mountain of cocaine alone."

"Of course he's a ferocious attack kitten! What other kind of kitten would join us for Tarantino?"

That was totally a question. Persuasiveness. Right?

She hoped. Tarantino was awesome. She totally had the whistle song from Kill Bill so stuck in her head.

At that, she popped her head out and came around the corner. "Hi, guys." She smiled. Asp looked relaxed, wearing PJs - and what of it? They were comfy, and totally great for fighting in.

The kitten, for its part, cocked its head at Animus, then trotted a few paces over. "Prrrow?" it asked, looking back at its owner for a second, who peered in turn at the Shaman.

The kitty came in and stood on its hind legs, putting its paws up on Animus's lower leg.

"I think he likes you, Animus," Asp said with a little chuckle. "Come on in, guys. If he maims your feet, you can't say you weren't warned. Want some wine or something?"
