Nonetheless, he nods at Slick's request of pathfinding. That part they had agreed to.

The wolf's body wasn't the most efficient for maintaining physical contact, but somehow he manages. With a moment to steady himself, the Meninna once again reaches into the balance of flesh and spirit, observing and correcting for the metaphysical drag of the merely human passenger. While the passage is noticeably more sluggish than the initial crossing, the shadow realm and its denizens are soon replaced by the park's physical aspect and the distant sounds of humanity.

Slick tilts her head slightly, grimacing as the Idigam comparison is brought up. <<A good point.>> It was a pity. She'd have liked to see what the man was capable of, what kind of help he could provide. But...as much as the Elodoth wanted to come to understand the interloper and see what he was capable of, Firebringer was right. There were too many unknowns.

Oh well.

<<I'll tell him once he's dressed again.>> Because she'd prefer to let him at least be at ease again before breaking news he might not like.

Then came the shift back across the gauntlet, the locus resonating with her two halves as the material world came to the fore once more. The scent of blood dominated the immediate surroundings here as well, but at least that should be gone soon. And, not feeling any particular urge to drag the man's discomfort out any longer than necessary, she slips her purse free of the bundle of clothes and hands them back to him.

Ever look at the person next to you on a plane flight and wonder how hard they're trying not to throw up? That's the expression he had. Not a fan of the transition, or whatever strange way they moved. Nothing like a civilized Gate.

A nod of thanks is given to Chantay -- a purer emotion than any showed before.

Silver moonlight is the only source of light. The glowing bars that had accompanied the man in the Hisil have disappeared.

As he dresses, the hollow cracking of gunshots roll through the distance.

It's difficult to drag something that's not half-spirit-half-matter through the Gauntlet but Firebringer manages it well. To Daniel, the clearing first seems almost the same but then he sees the missing phones and hears the gunfire. The Chorus looks to his Alpha awaiting orders.

This has been one hell of a strange night and Daniel'd give a lot just to get rid of the fucking sorcerer and go hunt a deer. Or a bear. Or some substitute that California wilderness could provide. As long as the gunshots aren't on Tur it's not really their problem. At least, not until something is offered for running into guns. Having bullets pulled out is never pleasant.

A short growl. «I'd be curious to see what he does next, if we can manage it.»

A moment later, Firebringer shrinks to the less obtrusive Urhan form. Gunshots meant people, after all, and it was better to present a more mundane scene, should they be caught by surprise.

Slick's head whips around as she hears the shots echo through the air. "Oh what now?" Sure it could have just been a coincidence, a random shooting happening near Tur on the same night some mysterious and powerful interloper had bisected someone over phones...but that seemed somehow unlikely. At the very least, she wasn't simply going to assume that it was mere coincidence.

<<Can either of you catch the other guy's scent? Figure out which direction he came from, or which one he went?>> Or, in other words, if he seemed to have anything to do with those gunshots.

A part of her was tempted to go back to wolf form herself and search, but it would probably be wise to be sure they could maintain communication with the interloper. Nor did she particularly want to revert to human form and leave physical evidence here that could easily be traced back to her. So she remained in Dalu for now...though she was not all that fond of the current situation.

The man watches the Uratha as he dresses, the way one would watch...

...a pack of rabid dogs.

It's when he would attacked: with attention divided, at a moment when sight was occluded or focused elsewhere. He was moderately surprised.
He was mildly disappointed.

Back on solid ground, there were so many more options. Turning towards the sound, he looked for the tell-tale ripples of kinetic energy. Whatever had been fired, wasn't headed towards him. Satisfied, he began moving, locating the phones left behind.

Having received an order (of sorts, not like Chantay is of his Pack), Daniel starts to circle the body, nose close to the ground, trying to pick the sent of the interloper and determine which direction he came from and went to.

Daniel get the Scent, and can follow it to Thao's truck. The truck is roughly 4 minutes away by foot, so, mmmmm, cut that in half for twice as many feet.

The days when Daniel was an overeager youth rushing to get his ass handed to him are long past him. There was a brief period after he got away from his father's influence but he quickly realized that subordination existed because it worked.

Immediately after picking up the scent, he stops circling the corpse and points in the direction of the shots with his paw:
