There's the bus stop. Then the bus. It's going where it always goes, and where Ariadne wants to be. There's no rush. The bus stops. Ariadne gets off. So do others.
In the window glass of the store in front of her, she sees a man look at her, then look away. He was on the bus. He snuck a couple of glances. It happens. She's a good looking woman. Some guys are into redheads. Really into them.
With a hiss, the bus pulls away.
Across the street, a man is facing her. For a moment, it stands out, because everyone is walking. This way, that way. Then the man is walking, but takes another look. Except, he's not looking at her, he's looking at the man looking at her.
She thinks. It's hard to tell, because her eyes keep sliding off of him.
She's stopped, hesitated, and the first man that she noticed walks into her, bumping her. He's on that line between young and middle aged, handsome in a devilish way despite a hairline that's beginning to recede. The rest of his hair is longish, but in the way that suggests it's just how he wears it rather than compensating for the recession.
"Oh! I'm sorry, excuse me."
He's got a look of chagrin, partly from bumping into her, but also that underlying guilt of just having run into the chick he'd been checking out.
