The Hunt

The night brought a cool reprieve from the sweltering heat of the day. With the herd no longer prisoners to their central air conditioning, they began their nightly migration to the downtown watering holes that they called restaurants, clubs, and bars. There, the herd sought to fulfill their hierarchy of needs with food, drinks, and mating, oblivious to the dangers that gathering around the water hole brings, the predators…

Ashley walked slowly down L Street, stopping at the corner of 15th to wait for the light to shift. Others waited to cross the street with her, and Ashley couldn’t help but find it haunting the hold they had over her. It made her feel weak, as if seeing them and feeling their warmth caused the rest of the world to fade away.

The Kindred called it hunger and Ashley knew that was bullshit as it went so much deeper than simple hunger. Ashley knew if the guy to her left hadn’t eaten all day he wouldn’t drag the litter girl to her right into an alley to sate his hunger, and she did not know how to feel having considered doing just that. No, it was more than hunger…

The Herd erupted in movement, signaling to Ashley that it was time to cross. She slid the phone halfway from her pocket as her finger shifted to power the device on. Ashley glanced at the clock, anxious to sate her addiction, and crossed the street heading to the MIX.

Ashley stopped outside of the club, sliding her phone halfway out of her jeans. With a press of her finger the liquid crystal display lit up and she glanced at the time. The Herd instinctively side-stepped around the wolf in the middle of the flock, unconsciously feeling something was off. Ashley felt anxious, deep down she wanted to get the evening started so her addiction could be sate, but on the surface she just wanted the girl’s night to kick off and the fun to commence.

“You shouldn’t be long Catherine…” Ashley said softly as she tucked the phone back into her pocket. She couldn’t help but wonder how the Shadows fed. She highly doubted that they fucked their food as much as the Succubus or snatched kids through sewer drains like the Haunts. She glanced up to the sign for the MIX, and stretched like a lion about the begin its stalking approach of the gazelle.

“Already on my way.”

Catherine hung up her phone moments after the Ventrue had finished speaking. It was a gamble, going out with a Ventrue, but then everything was at times. What was the worse that could happen?

Catherine was dressed in a loose black shirt, and white flares. Something she supposed was ‘college-chic’ but hadn’t actually had the chance to run by anyone who actually knew. It was much easier a year ago when she focused on wearing the dancer’s costumes that everyone seemed to gawk at. But now she was becoming more of a Shadow than the Succubus she had, perhaps, deserved to be.

The Serpent within was tucked away, as usual, but at the barest visual on another of her kind left her frozen for a moment. She had forgotten how jaw-droppingly powerful Ashley was compared to her own beast. She could feel and hear the motion of moving feathers on her psyche as the beast curled back in on itself, hissing fearful words to her before she regained the control she needed to approach the woman.

“Good evening, Miss Cohen.” she looked up at the club. “I am glad you picked something, I can actually get into.” The Mekhet ran a faint smile across her lips, and with the Kine milling around, and most definitely getting worked up inside, perhaps this hunt wouldn’t be so bad sharing it with another predator.

Ashley looked Catherine up and down, giving an approving nod over her choice of outfit. She held out her arm for Catherine to accept while her eyes fell upon the two Bouncers who kept guard over the entrance. Ashley set into motion, holding confidence in each step. The Bouncer taking IDs glanced to the two, while they both looked a little suspect, he knew that attractive females were essential in keeping people spending money throughout the night.

It was just good business, he thought as he dropped the velvet rope.

Upon entering the lighting contrast was the first thing to grab the attention, with VIP and the dance floor having a certain darkness, while the bar area was well lit. They wasted no expense when it came to sound quality, which was readily apparent with the amount of Kine swaying upon the dance floor. Even with how early in the evening it was, the place still held a large volume of people that would only undoubtedly grow as the night progressed.

Ashley wasted no time in heading to the VIP section and flagging down a Hostess for bottle service. Following the hostess, they were lead to a U-shaped area that could easily fit a dozen people, but was just for two. The Hostess leaned in to speak into Ashley's ear so she can be heard over the music. "What do you want to drink? Your choice of Top-Shelf with an assortment of mixers."

Ashley pulled back from the Hostess, leaning in to talk into Catherines ear to see what she felt like for the evening. "What are you in the mood for?"'

Ashley pulled away for a moment, as she glanced around VIP. So far they were the only two, which would work out perfectly...

She had never been in this particular restaur-club but she actually appreciated the fact that her looks and affinity for clubs could help get in; but then it could have just been the Lord’s moves. The feel of the club and the pulse of what was already a moving beat and undulating hips of the rulers of the dance floor, Catherine could tell this would be a club she would likely visit again.

When Ashely leaned forward to her ear, she thought for a moment before leaning back. “I am not really a drinker of alcohol, at least not ones I choose for myself, the names get jumbled. A red wine would probably be best, but please do not ask me to name names or dates.”

Catherine smiled at the hostess, perhaps it would have been easier to not let the stronger beast know that piece of her, but as much of an attention grabber that she was, there was no shame in being submissive when the situation called for it.

It was odd enough to be a cougar that looked like she was in her twenties.

Ashley nodded and leaned back to the hostess. "Two bottles of Cabernet sauvignon." Ashley pulled away for a moment, looking back to the Catherine. The hostess closes the distance to ask another question. "Peju or Chateau Montelena?"

Ashley turned back to the Catherine, shooting her a wink. "Montelena and add a bottle of Grey Goose." The woman headed away with a warm smile, mostly because she knows there is going to be a hell of a tip at the end of the night.

With that part being set up Ashley moves to Catherine, placing a hand softly upon her arm. "Have two bottles of Red Wine coming and a bottle of Vodka. While they get this set-up, let's make a round through the club. Lead the way."

Catherine gave the Lord a smile before sliding out of the group booth. Her eyes drifted around the low light of the club, it was still early enough in the evening that people were getting their drink on, and with the two Huntress’ bait on the way, it was just up to finding a couple of willing men and women.

“Dance floor, for now.” she informed the blond at her side, giving her at least a heads up though considering the populated areas of the building it was either the pounding music of the dance floor or the sparse pickings of people already in conversations.

She stepped with a certain confidence into the pulsing mass of flesh and blood that was the Kine on the dance floor. All that was left was finding a particular person to pull into a bit of twisted dancing.

Ashley follows closely behind. When in the midst of it all, she reaches out to place her hands upon Catherine's hips to halt her movement. Ashley hand glides to lay a soft touch upon Catherine's shoulder, as she slowly moves around to face the Shadow. Each step, guided by the booming of the base as she finds the rhythm for the song.

When Ashley finally faces Catherine, she bursts into sensual motion. She may not be the most technical dancer, but Ashley knows how to be seen and how to look good while doing it. Ashley casts a wanting glance out into the crowd, before her eyes find their way back to Catherine. Just as easy to make them come to us...

The movement on Ashley’s account actually startled the Mekhet for a moment. It was the middle of a crowd and suddenly the woman had burst into the type of hip rolling that the Bard had not expected.

Particularly so close to her; the mental push of the Serpent within to get away from the attractive Lord, if only to bide it’s time until it could devour her whole.

Finally she managed to start to play catch up to the Cohen woman, it was odd enough dancing where she wasn’t the lead but so be it, joint hunts tended to always go a little twisty when determining the actual alpha.

Not that this time it wasn’t obvious.

Her own hip rolling turned a base to the other woman, drawing the look of at least one person, although Ashley got the majority of the attention, leaving nothing more than a green thought in the Mekhet’s head.

The sea of bodies sway to the rhythm and as the song progresses. Ashley cannot help but notice the eyes they catch as tide of the floor begins to swirl around them until they are encircled by the enraptured. As the song begins to wind down, Ashley shoots Catherine a nod that is quickly followed by a playful wink. With a quick snap of her head, she motions in the direction of the bar. She does not wait for the song to end, turning sharply on her heel and pressing through the masses.

"Hell ya!" Ashley shouts, raising a hand in the air as she points to the bar. She finds it easy to move through the people, as many feel the unconscious threat that she poses.

Once off the dance floor, the density of people drop. Ashley saunters quickly over to the bar. Climbing up onto a stool, she leans her back against the bar top and continues to nod her head to the music.

After their work on the dance floor, Ashley sincerely doubts either of them are going to have to buy another drink for the rest of the night...

One song down and the desire to continue onto the second there, but even she knew the games of the club-hunt. It was different depending on the club... and the second hunter. Neil was always a little sideways, but this time she wasn’t hunting with a second shadow, it was a Lord.

And this wasn’t Citrus Heights either.

No, it was....

Fuck!

She slid into the chair next to the Lord.

“So You know where we are right?” She asked the lord, suddenly wondering if girls night out might just turn into another discrepancy on her record.
