The hare gave a glance at the other Changelings before her nose twitched and she glanced up to the air. Catching that smell of

It would be best to go by foot. She thought to herself for a moment. Faster, safer more nimble…and traffic would suck with The Four Seasons aflame.

She checked herself patting down her hoodie and pants, making sure she had every thing she brought...she should of brought more. She paused looking at her camera bag…not a good idea to take that in the hedge.

“Mind if I leave this here?” Jack asked slipping the bag from her shoulder and into the car before kneeling down. Her fingers fished out a small plastic bag, tucking it quickly into her pockets she hesitated for a moment. She nibbled at her lower lip than stood shutting the door.

“Don’t want to drag a camera with us right?” Last thing I fucking need is that thing breaking…put a nice icing on to this fucked up cake of a day.

“We ready than?” Jack asked before stepping up onto the pavement. Best keep Big Lou and Mal between herself and that hunt…no need to get caught up in that. While she was worried Mal might go off on her as well after that little display...it was better than being chased down by some hedge beasts.

The hare let the sensation of the gate wash onto her. The smell of its charge, the rose water and the spark…that bite this tear gave. Her eyes darted to the side, as she ran her tongue over her lips that had grown dry. It was impossible to miss.

“It’s down this way” Stated the Hare mostly to herself.

Squatting down reflexively as the ground begins to tremble, Mal has to self-consciously force herself to stand up straight, on two legs like normal people. A cold stab of ice shooting up her spine, as a shattered mirror of razor-edged memories of a lumbering, corpulent excuse for a wolf, and the hunters that served it jabbed into her subconscious.

The Devourer was just the sort of thing she expected to be waiting in the wings for the herders to drive the fleeter prey out ahead of the old, the young, the weak. The easy meat. Though her rational mind tried to reassure her, that even a Fae wolf would be trumped by a Dragon, and there was no way the tremors were the shock of ponderous footfall.

Grinding her teeth together, she stalked after Jack, loitering at the edge of her peripheral vision, alert and scanning their surroundings. This hunter did not like the idea of being hunted.

Llewelyn frowned slightly as he watched Jack take the small white baggie out of her bag and put it in her pocket.
We are so hosting an intevention over that.
Of course, now was not the time, but the minute he got a chance...
"Yeah, we ready." Llewelyn replied, mentally preparing himself for whatever horror lay waiting at the tear.

There were so many reasons driving her car into a Hedge tear was never, ever going to happen. She would have been happy to list them at great length, but figured that the best option might be to simply not respond, and pretend it was a joke. It'd been an offhand comment, right? Those can be jokes. Also, there was the small fact that she'd have to be in the car to be driving it into the Hedge and that sounded suspiciously like a heroic suicide mission. Not interested, thanks.

The tremor saved her from any sort of response as she froze and focused on the sensation. When it came again there was a moment when she was torn between fear at whatever was creating the sensation, and the irrational fear that the ground was becoming liquid. Is it irrational? Maybe it isn't. But people were speaking again and she knew she was supposed to be paying attention; she had volunteered to stick around, after all. Breathing a little shakily she back tuned in to hear Llewellyn asking Jack to lead them toward the tear.

"Go for it," she said to Jack as she tucked her bag into the car. Satisfied it was out of sight, not sitting on a seat asking someone to break a window, Ava locked the car and dropped the keys back into her bag. Pressing her tongue to the back of her teeth, hard, she followed after the others.

Jack lingered for a moment at the corner of a street before turning to glance around for any more Hedge beasts. Last thing they needed was to run into a swarm of angry hedge bees. That would be no good.

The Winter Hare glanced back at Llewelyn, Ava and Mal. She wasn't sure on their skill sets yet. The lot had spent this fucked up day getting to know each other than having all that thrown to the wind.
If this thing is a just a gate...we just need to cut off any one from entering or leaving for a while and let it shut....but if not...

What begun to worry Jack was the possibility that this tear...wasn't random. What if it was on purpose, what if the Gentry was on the other side. It was possible and they were not in a position to handle it. She frowned at the thought.

The worst part though, was Mal and Llewelyn didn't know what to do. Why had the sovereigns not had something in place for this sort of thing? Why was there no emergency plans...no shelters, hide away. Places to regroup? Or were there and the panic had stricken them from Mal and Llewelyn mind?
The thought turned her blood cold, how could this ever been allowed to happen...

As Jack leads the small group she can sense the nearing of the hedge. Arcadia seems to be leeking out onto the streets of Sacramento, blissfully being ignored by it's inhabitants. At least for the time being.

Then the crashing could be heard and with a left turn the gate can be seen. A small slice in the wall, something that doesn't look like it should be, like the partially opened portal to Diagon Ally from the first Harry Potter film. And there to the side something like a shoe shoved between the bricks.

Beyond the crack were the thorns the size of Mal's arm, each one dripping with any of a thousand rainbow hues of fae-dew. The closest bare of the liquid, but the smell still reaching out to the changelings.

    Home was calling.

Please roll me a [Resolve+Composure-1] and a [Perception] if you get a suxx, Danger Sense applicable.

If you fail, you feel drawn to the hedge gate.

Rounding into the alley, carefully watching Jack's six, Mal bared her teeth, nursing a growl at the back of her throat at the sight of the jagged rent in reality. She steeled herself against the silent, siren call to the other side, her toes curling, as though she would dig her heels into the very tarmac to hold herself in place.

That smell. Ava could smell the tear before she saw it, the sudden warmth of saliva coating her tongue as her mouth began to water. Her stomach clenched and rippled, letting out a slow, rumbling whine of hunger and she looked, almost unseeing, into the Hedge. She was just so hungry. She had been craving something for months, something she hadn't been able to name or track down or cover up with other tastes. But that scent on the air brought it back full force, the onslaught almost painful. Her tongue darted out to lick a tiny portion of her bottom lip and she swallowed hard.

Staring a little vacantly at the wall, she rummaged clumsily in her bag for the assortment of hard candies hanging around in the bottom of it. Looking down to unwrap a butterscotch, she tucked it into her cheek and looked back up to find herself several steps closer to the gate than she thought she had been last.

Fair's fair. He always knew he'd been the skimper on the deal. It was a service for a service with his keeper, that he'd given his word for... and gone back on.
Sure, the deal wasn't exactly what he'd planned to agree on, but it was what he'd agreed on, right? And didn't he claim to be a man of his word?
Yet here, in all its multi-coloured glory, was a second chance. He wasn't sure what he'd done to deserve it, but maybe... just maybe, he'd be allowed to continue the deal with just a few minor reprimands...
Llewelyn's pearly eyes glazed over, a clear film covering the opaque spheres, making them look like white marbles.

    "here we are"
Jack lingered at the sights that were unseen by the populace. The world of Faerie was leaking out, like a growth or a decay...or perhaps a bloom of life.

Iridescent flowers, with sharp teeth sprouted from the cracks in the side walk. A brilliant green sap, leaking between the loose bricks in the Alley wall, that let out a soft seductive tune. Than there was the tear that should not be.

    Prepare Your Farewells

The thought had seeped into her mind as her eyes lay upon the impossible crack. Its illuminating glow seeping from the wound.
    The four Seasons was gone...
    The freehold was aflame...
    Were the others even alive...
    Sacramento invaded...

Despite the dangers the hedge held, Jack had survived its paths. She had hidden in its brambles, found its fruits. Could she say the same of Sacramento...could she survive here, with a dragon, with dead freehold? Would the Others be coming here?

Prepare Your Farewells The winter law...perhaps now she would be safest in the place she knew. Perhaps it was safest to hide in her old home...

Jack nibbled her lip, her mouth dry. Her foot twitched slightly as her eyes were locked on the hole. Her palms slightly damp.
