The offices of DHS Geo had calmed down somewhat after Agent Derevko's return. Though the two new agents would not notice the change, bring fresh-faced and unknowing of the intricacies of his kidnapping, the office was less frantic than it had been only a couple of weeks previously.

Agent Derevko might not have been back with DHS Geo, but it was enough that he was alive.

Almost every desk was full that day, and at the head of the room the door to SAC Johnson's office was closed but unlocked. He was waiting patiently to run the new guys through their paces.

    Another day on the job.

Agent Girardi came in early, as he often did - 0700 hours wasn't abnormal for the early riser, who usually liked to go for a short run in the morning. During the summer, he was up with the sun; in the winter, his runs were during the dead of night. This was how Tony had been for years.

He came into the office and sat down at his desk, sipping from a big insulated cup of coffee as he did. It was joe, pure and simple - there was no cream or sugar or 'artificial sweetener', just dark roast pressed in a little French press at home by hand and poured. Thanks for the Bodum, Mom.

Logging into his PC, he checked his e-mail and mentally prepared himself for the day through a time-honoured 'in the office' ritual of making sure he had read any memos that might have come in.

Agent Harrison arrived in the office 5 minutes before he's expected looking like he just got off the bus. If Geo is the dead end of the DHS, it seems like no one bothered to tell him. His suit is perfectly pressed, his ID badge is obviously displayed, and his smile is enough to make Kindergarten teacher sick. After stopping at the front desk to say good morning to the receptionist, he sets his brief case on his desk and pops it open. From one side of the bag he removes a DHS official logo coffee mug and heads to the break room to pull himself a cup - black, half a sugar, no cream.

Then, steaming mug in hand, he strides back to his desk and flips on the computer. He raises the mug in a toast to his new partner and takes a sip. Trying vainly to mask a grimace at the taste he smiles and cheerily greets Agent Girardi. "Good morning!" His cheer is dampened slightly by the bitterness of his coffee.

Jaeger in the meantime liked to have a smoke for breakfast and was never much of a runner due to the fact. He took in a smooth draw to wake his body up with nicotine. As such he came into their Department headquarters smelling like burnt tobacco. He's the last to enter the facility among the three agents and heads straight to the break room's coffee machine instead of his desk. While he loved certain aspects of his work he needed a bit of chemical encouragement in the mornings. With his own mug in hand he sits down at his station before standing back up again, remembering to remove his coat and sling it over the back of the chair. If he does happen to lock eyes with his coworkers he gives a short and half-hearted smile, meant more as a courtesy than a sign of actual mirth.

He sifts through the files on his desk, reminding himself what was there when he left the night before.

As each agent reached their individual desks, they would see a memo requesting they were to check in with SAC Johnson once they were in the office.

"'Morning, Tom," Girardi said, raising his cup slightly to Harrison. It seemed his partner was particularly... perky today. Or maybe he was just always looking this sharp? In any event, the former Customs agent said, "SAC Johnson wants to see us."

Could it be an assignment? Or maybe more paperwork... in any case, the memo put a bit of spring in the early riser's step.

It was as Jaeger noticed the memo when he overheard his coworkers discussing the contents of it. A meeting for all of us? Might be a big case. He hadn't worked with anyone else since Derevko, so long as you didn't count Sam. Or maybe it was an evaluation or something. Either way there was only one way to find out and that was to get his ass up off the chair. Pity too, since he hadn't even been sitting for long.

He took a moment to sip at his coffee again, warming himself up before leaving the mug behind. He'd just pitch the rest when he got back. The agent trudged down the length of the office to the elevator and pushed the button to summon it. He was sure the others would be right behind him.

Tom nods, picking up his own memo and reviewing it. He takes a sip of his coffee and replies, "Best not keep him waiting." He tucks his briefcase into his bottom desk drawer after pulling out a notepad and a pen. Then he makes his way to go check in, knocking on the door and waiting for a response.

    "Enter."

The voice was deep, powerful and controlled and somehow managed to emit a nice amount of authority in that one simple word.

When the door was opened, they would find their boss seated behind his desk with a slightly chipped mug of coffee next to his elbow and folders a couple of feet away. Situated around the desk, closest to the door were three chairs.

Lynx let Tom open the door since he was the first to knock. Glancing in he saw the three chairs. Three, eh? Guess it was just them then. The agent walked after, moving before the center chair but remaining standing until he was given permission to sit. "You wanted to see us, sir?" asked Lynx with a casual tone. The question was rhetorical of course, and of course Johnson would take it as such. It was better than 'why did you want to see us?' which was presumptive.
