Simon politely greets Derek and then excuses himself, leaving the Boarding House. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in helping, but if the Rue woman was going to be so threatening then he had no desire to lend her his aid.

Grrface, seeing the boy is awake, is excited in this apparent step in the right direction. He pulls a chair over and sits down, out of the way, to watch as the boy slowly regains his senses.

"That's right," Derek says, smiling to see Samuel respond to his singing. He thinks about holding the boy's hand or stroking his hair, but decides against it, unsure how he might react to touch. "You're safe here. Nobody bad can find you."

Wondering how the boy might react to Betony Rue, Derek says, simply, "She's a friend." He then reprises a bit from "With a Little Help..."

Betony Rue remained stony faced as ever, when the Kincaid boy's eyes met hers. She briefly wondered if by some Wyrd chance he could possibly see through the Mask because of his experince. Even if it hadn't she didn't think smile would help the situation much.
She didn't say anything, simply looking back at him. She had after all already told him her name and purpose.

Samuel's eyes turn next to a big hulk of a man. Other than the one who was singing, they were kind of a scary looking bunch. Especially the lady.
The big man sat quietly, though. Friend? thought Samuel.

Grrface's face opens up in a friendly smile when the boy looks at him. "Hey, buddy. You had us scared you weren't going to come to. We're all here to take care of you. Can you say anything?"
The ease with which Grrface speaks to the boy suggests a significant level of comfort with dealing with children.
As they sit around the child Grrface watches him, trying to figure out how the kid must be feeling. If he won't talk to them, then perhaps Grr could glean something from the boy's face. He'd spent so much time around children that it was easy for him to discern their feelings without much to go on.

Sam heard the big man's words, and although his face showed almost no expression, he visibly relaxed. Friend, he thought with a tired satisfaction. He turned his eyes toward the kitchen area. The coffee smell was one he remembered from home, and he was still hungry and thirsty.
Jasper the sock monkey kept watch, likewise silent, while Alicia slept the deep dreamless sleep that Betony Rue had gifted her with.
The rescuers should make plans for how to care for the children. Samuel is currently still catatonic, although beginning to make progress. Alicia will most likely awaken after some hours of deep sleep.
The police have been called to the bus station, and very shortly the parents of Sacramento will be keeping an even closer watch than usual over their children, as this news hits the airwaves.
If they are to get to the kidnapper before returning the children to their homes, they will be forced to split their crew or call in reinforcements, as the children cannot be left alone.

"So, what do we do with the kids now," Derek asks. "Anyone come up with any good ideas? Maybe Al-Adin was right, and we should return them home and focus on finding a way to stop them from being taken again."
