Walter leaves his apartment. Slightly nervous about wandering a strange town, he debates bringing his rapier along. Sensibility (or at least what Walter hopes to be sensibility) wins out over security in the end, and Walter soon begins wandering the streets. He hopes to find clues as to where the local Elysium is; the sooner to allow himself to feed.
Failing that, of course, he could simply ask for directions from the local Kindred.

Walter looks around for any sign of common Kindred tags and signs, but has no luck finding any. He realizes, though, the best chance of encountering other Kindred would be to find the city's Rack. Locating an area full of bars, nightclubs and the like, he starts to look again for kindred tags and the like, or for others of his kind.
Roll Wits + Streetwise (which for Walter = Wits -1, due to nonproficiency in Streetwise) in attempt to find something pointing him to Elysium.
Walter continues to search...

Outside one club, the Avalon, Walter notices markings that kindred use to indicate an Elysium. The markings are small and at one corner of a wall, high enough to be out of the way, but are quite visible when one knows to look, and appear to be maintained.
Walter heads to the club's doors, allowing himself some pride in finding kindred so quickly. A public place like this ought to give him a decent chance of finding someone who can point him in the right direction.

Looking around inside the Avalon, Walter no further markings or other signs of Kindred activity, and though the place is fairly busy, at first he also does not notice any Kindred. Just when he thinks this might be another dead end, however, he sees someone approaching the bar from some back area of the club, a stocky, bearded man of smaller-than-average stature. His Beast recoils, recognizing a vampire of blood somewhat stronger than his own.
Waltrer does his best to stay in place in spite of the Beast's urging, giving the approaching man a wry smile.

Narration:
Since Walter was looking for, and hoping to find, some other vampire, he is prepared enough to keep his Beast in check, though he nonetheless feels an inner urge to flee. The other vampire doesn't seem to notice Walter at first, as he walks along the bar and talks briefly with a bartender, but suddenly he turns in Walter's direction, as if he somehow sensed Walter's weaker Beast. Walter sees this other vampire's lip curl up and his hands tense, but the other vampire maintains control and heads in Walter's direction. This other vamipre, though not very tall, is very powerfully-built, with wide shoulders, thick arms and thighs and a barrel chest. He has a thick beard, long hair and scars across his left cheek, running from the upper curve of the cheekbone down into the beard, which appear to have been made by claws.
Walter regards the scars warily, which do nothing to help him fight the need to flee. He heads to intercept this stranger.

The two vampires meet each other partway. The other one points to a booth and says "Sit. We will talk."
