Open Hungry Streets Thread

Ever been to one of those seedy hole-in-the-wall bars around town. If not, you may be in luck. Don’t expect anything fancy here. Don’t expect to be treated like royalty. It is what it is and what it is may be necessity while you’re in South Sacramento. Trax is owned by Vorigan a rather eccentric British guy. He’s pretty familiar with this side of town. You might learn a thing or two if you can get past his eyes. There may be a pool table, juke box, dart board and a really big vase in the back corner of the bar. Need a drink, or perhaps something... stronger, this is the place to stop. And the barkeep is probably around somewhere...

Trask moseyed into the cantina, cigarette in his mouth and already lighting up. Surveying the joint with a single, scanning eye, he smirked at Vorigan's new sign before heading on up to the bar to buy a drink. It was his ritual. Order a drink, get ignored by Vorigan, go play pool and fuck around until the bar closed. It was fun.

Well. Most of the time.

He'd almost forgotten about the foolish girl he'd had to shank last time. Idly, he wondered if the young vampire was still around town. He wasn't the awkward type; so long as she watched her mouth, Larkin Trask was pretty sure he'd be plenty nice. He wasn't the type to hold onto shit, really.

Step one: approach bar to place meaningless order that he probably wouldn't drink.

"Nice sign," he said to get Vorigan's attention, a half-smile on his face. A long puff of the cigarette before he placed his hand on the bartop. "How are things?" Cordial. Friendly, even.

Owen approaches Trax, he's hoping to see the two lovely ladies or to speak with someone equally interesting. He even had enough in coins for some beer he won't be drinking. As he comes through the door, he takes in the room, he notices Trask by the bar along with some new poster.

He approaches the bar, he glances towards Trask but there's a seat between them. He looks towards the barkeep, ordering a beer when Vorigan acknowledges him. Owen does his best to keep his gaze focus at some point behind the bar as he mentally thinks of how to approach the guy who brought a sword into the bar the previous time and might have done the same tonight. He's a guy you don't want pissed at you and I sure as hell don't want to waste Vitae healing a sword wound.

Gareth walked down the street towards the seedy little bar where he'd stumbled upon a veritable nest of Kindred. He was on edge, still unsure what to expect. He hoped he might find other, more amenable Kindred, preferably more intelligent to boot. Maybe it was just his beast growling, maybe the others he had met weren't really all that bad.

Oh fuck it... No guts, no glory. As long as things didn't get violent then he could handle it. And even if they did, he could handle it, at least well enough to get the hell out of dodge and lay low for a while.

He was wary though as he stepped into the bar, seeing the familiar sights of the seedy little bar. Oh shit,l he thought. Not fucking Jack Sparrow again. And another one. He studied the other kindred, seeing the blur in his eyes. Whatever, just don't piss anyone off unless you have to, Gareth.

He went to order a drink; "Evening, Jack Daniel's please, no ice, just straight. Thanks.", found a vacant table to sit at and waited for events to unfold.

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” Vorigan said swiftly walking up the stairs in the back. There was a devilish grin on his face. Perhaps it was the same thing he said an hour ago.

To those that knew tall thin eccentric Lord, he was generally rather… crotchety some nights. Tonight, he seemed a bit different. But like a dog, his mood could change at the drop of a hat, knife, body…whatever.

“Sorry about that.” Nodding to Gareth. “What’ll it be?” He said from the bar a little louder to the Gangrel at the table.

Nodding his head to Larkin. “Evening.” He started looking for a glass and his bar towel. “So, what’ll it be tonight? Sarcasm or just a slice of wits…?” It was hard to tell if Vorigan was kidding or not. Its not like he could forget the pirate chased out a bag of blood the other night, among others. Money didn’t mean a hell of a lot… blood was their currency.

“You there.” Pointing at Owen. “Anything?”

"Just a beer please." Owen orders when Vorigan turns to look at him. He adjusts his sun-glasses a bit when Vorigan turns to bring it up.

When the beer is before him, he says as he pulls it towards himself, "Thank you."

He turns to Gareth and says, "Name's Owen." Might as well take time to get to know somebody who I haven't seen stab somebody.

"Sorry, didn't realise you were busy," said Gareth genuinely as he got up to collect his drink. "Jack Daniels please, just straight, no ice. Much obliged."

Gareth eyed the new one as he approached the bar. Jesus! Is that stink him? He thought. Well, it's him, the barkeep who pissed you off last time - play nice! - or the bloody pirate - ok, he's a fucking pirate! you don't have to like him - for the time being... He thought for a moment longer and turned to the newcomer.

"Haven't seen you before, Owen. Are you new in town as well?"

"That I am, got any advice for new comer like me?" Owen asks Gareth, curious to see just how he'll answer that particular question. Scary dude... I wonder which clan he's part of?

Trask peered over at Vorigan for a moment. The bartender's presence was becoming just a thing that always was in Trask's day to day life, and he always ordered the sarcasm with just a side of wits. "I'll have the wits, with some hot sauce and a bourbon. Don't much care what kind of bourbon, but the wits should be sharp." He chuckled, looking over at the other two. He smirked slightly at their conversation around the cigarette.

"Ask someone who's been around longer, often ain't a bad call," Trask interjected, motioning to the bartender meaningfully for Owen. His eye fell on Gareth and he smiled pleasantly. "Been a while. Glad to see you're still kickin'," he said cordially. He'd seen Gareth around, but not recently. Not that he gave a shit if the guy came back, but since he had...

"Likewise," Gareth replied affably to Trask, grinning.

"And yeah, Jack Sparrow's got a point. The landlord's been around longer than most of us." He neglected to mention the incident where he'd been press-ganged to go raid a lab with the misfits of the night in favour of staying in the bar for the time being.
