Rise With Me

Without a newspaper or a calendar it was impossible to tell what date it was as the group of intrepid rescuers began to wake. It was April who woke first, and the first thing she would have been aware of was the oxygen mask covering her nose and mouth, the strap feeling too tight and claustrophobic, the air tasting odd and sterile.

A machine beeped to her left and beyond the off-white curtain around her bed, voices chatted away.

What the...where am I? What happened? How the heck did I get here?

All these questions starting flooding April's mind as she regains consciousness. She looks around at her surroundings, slightly confused at first, but eventually coming to the conclusion that she must be in a hospital. But why? What had happened back at the hotel? The last thing she could remember is Lynx and her escorting the woman out of the room, when suddenly everything went black.

The woman. What happened to her? And where are the others?

Panic starts to settle in, as she realizes that something must have gone horribly wrong. April pulls down the oxygen mask as she hears the chatter nearby. "Hello? Excuse me, is someone there?" she calls out, hoping that someone could explain to her what had happened and what she is doing there.

Noel and Vassagon are up next.

In a similar way to April, Noel and Jaeger find themselves quite uncomfortable in the Oxygen masks and the not-quite-comfortable-enough hospital mattress. There's a distinct disinfectant scent too, the sorts that constantly permeates medical facilities. Being closest to the windows, a little sunlight filtered through the blinds. It at least provides them with a relative time of day.

April

The curtain around April's bed flicked open several seconds later and a very official-looking doctor peered at her over his spectacles. He held a clipboard, which he made a couple of notes in as he continued his observation.

"How are you feeling?"

April looks over to the doctor with a quizzical look on her face. If she had any doubts about being in a hospital, the doctor standing in front of her cleared those up. The man's presence is somewhat comforting, yet she is still wondering whatever happened to Lynx and the rest. "Umm, hi...I'm feeling like my head got ran over by a Mack truck..." she says in response to the doctor's question. "Can you tell me how I got here?"

Jaeger stirs, groaning while his body's senses begin to register one by one. Everything is a blur in his mind. He has the instinctual feeling that he's at a hospital. Did something happen to him? The sound of his own breathing rekindled the memory. Gas, there was gas in the room, it had caused them...April to pass out.

He sits up quickly, throwing off the breathing mask and then feeling suddenly light-headed from the rush of blood away from his skull. The light coming through the window tips him off as to the time of day. They must have slept the rest of the night away, out for hours. His vision clears but he only sees the white sheet surrounding him. Seeing no immediate threat he takes a moment to fully come awake. He stands and walks to the surrounding curtain, pulling it back slowly as he tries to understand their situation. He checks his belongings, does he have his gun, his phone? Did Derevko call them an ambulance after they had hit the floor?

Noel opens his eyes and seeing as well as feeling the mask he slowly turns his head and twists his arms making sure if he sits up that he won't be pulling any tubes, catheters, or IV's out painfully. Once he's satisfied he slowly sits up testing himself and not wanting to get disoriented then fall and hurt himself more. He's relieved as he seems to be in the hospital and not the afterlife. ~~So, the weird stuff must have been gas just like I thought.~~ He pulls off the mask and puts his feet on the perpetually cold floor. He starts looking for his clothing, especially his badge and weapon. He stands hearing the talking. Excuse me, doctor, nurse can someone let me know where I am and how I got here? He slides the curtain open enough to look around, one hand going behind him to hold the back of his gown closed.

As you didn't roll Int + Science, you don't get to make the connection.

"The effects of the gas are wearing off. You'll probably feel out of sorts for another couple of hours yet." He continued to make notations on his clipboard. Presumably there was an interesting chart or something on there. "You were brought here by police several hours ago."

Jaegar and Noel

As Jaeger pulls aside the curtain on his side, and Noel the curtain on the other side, the two agents can just see each other on the opposite sides of the small space. In between, nurses patter back and forth. One of them paused, hearing Noel speak.

"Sir, you need to go back to your bed. You're not ready to be up and about yet."

Derevko

It was several moments after the others that Derevko finally began to stir, lulled out of his nightmares by the systematic whir of machinery. There was a shadow of a person by his bedside, someone pattering around, the scrape of a pen on paper audible close to him. A doctor, a nurse? He's clearly in a hospital. The oxygen mask is tight around his mouth and nose.

Derevko's hand came up and scrabbled at the mask, ripping it off. He breathed in a lungful of air, vaguely remembering something... he'd been having a bad dream. And before that, there'd been... figures rushing towards him, yeah. Had that been whatever it was he'd breathed in, or had it been real?

Fuck. His head felt worse than it usually did.

Fuck.

He sat up, swinging his legs over the side, and ripping off any monitoring equipment, or IVs, regardless of how reckless it was. He wanted his head clear, not full of morphine, or... anything else that might be in there.

The scarred Agent stood up, and assessed himself for injury.

April gives the doctor a quizzical look. "Gas? Which officer brought me here?" she asks the man, still concerned about what had happened and the absence of the agents that had been with her. "What happened to agents Jaeger and Derevko? They were with me before...where are they?" She is still feeling a little woosy from whatever the gas was, so she doesn't bother with standing up.

Oh good, Adrian is here with him, which means the others should be close by. He relaxed a little, thankful nothing more serious had happened. Still, without seeing April, Derevko, or the woman they'd rescued for himself he still couldn't shake his uneasiness. He pulled the curtain open and, in case the nurse gave him a similar statement, ignored her to walk to any other curtains in the room, if there were any, to glance in on their occupants. He did this wordlessly, hoping to ease his worries himself before asking the nurse for help.
