Thank you all for the birthday wishes
I took the day off (which I’ve never done on my birthday) so I could hear my dad speak to my son’s 5th grade class about his service in the military. He was an aircraft mechanic for the USAF and served in Vietnam in armed combat. The kids thought it was an wonderful treat. My dad brought along plaques, badges, fighter helmet and wore his uniform. Although, I think it was just some fatigues that were up to date. The kids were so intrigued and entertained they asked the teacher if he could come again this year. Of course this may have been because of the lanyards, keychains, pencils, dog tag, and squishy soldier. (Not exactly the same items as you see pictured, but you get the idea.)
So today, I was the proud doting daughter and that was an amazing birthday gift
