This scene is continued from here

As Otto's truck pulls up to the address given to him by Rick, the group sees the boarding house from the street. It is a simple place, yet it looks large enough to house at least a dozen people or more. It's around 10:30 pm by the time they get there, and the inside of the house seems to be pretty dark, with the exception of one light that's on in what appears to be the living room area from the outside.

"Is this it? Is this where your friend lives?" asks Maggie as she looks at the house from the truck. Even though she is starting to get a little sleepy, the excitement of finding a new home is keeping her spirits high for now.

"Yep." Otto says as he kills the engine and climbs out. There was a hurricane of thoughts running through his head as he climbed up and walked around the jeep. All the paperwork for the girl, schooling, her needing the basics and cloths until everything went through. "Someone's up at least."

Stripes takes Maggie's hand again and looks to Otto.

"Maybe Rick call ahead?" He suggests. "Either way, won't do much standing out here."

Stripes leads Maggie toward the door, chatting with her as he does.

"Sure that Miss Rue can help you," Stripes assure Maggie before he knocks on the door to the boarding house.

If King Pereg directed them to Betony then she must have the capability to help. Still, from the rumors he heard, the big question will be whether she'd be willing to help the two beasts and Maggie.

Maggie takes Stripes hand and lets herself be lead out the truck and to the door. "Do other kids live here with her too?" she asks while the wait by the door. "Do you know if she has any pets?"

After a few moments, they can hear some shuffling towards the door, accompanied by some muttering. Finally the door opens, and there in front of them stands the Ogress. The pair of Beasts feel a bitter wind and a sense of urgency around her, as her strong Autumn Mantle flares along with the scowl on her brow.

"This better be good," she says with a hint of bitterness in her voice. "It is a little late for house calls." Her horrifying Mien does not seem to scare Maggie away, as the little girl smiles at the woman, who hasn't even noticed her yet.

"No idea, we'll find out together I suppose." Otto replies to Maggie. The girl seemed to have taken the whole otherworldly abduction in stride. But the young seemed to bounce back quickly from just about everything.

When the Ogress opened the doors, Otto's eyebrows rose. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, maybe someone a bit more..cheerful? Running a board house, the Beast would have suspected someone more friendly?

"Uh hi. Name's Otto. This is Stripes and the little miss is Maggie." Otto gestures to the little girl. "Rick Pereg sent us. Its kind of a long story. And one that's not really good for telling on the street."

Stripes trembles a bit, the whispers of his own Autumn mantle mingling with the winds of Betony's. For a moment a rush of paranoia strikes the tiger but he manages to keeps his claws sheathed and swallow the sensation. There was no way he was going to back off when they'd come this far, no matter how much Betony's appearance or mantle may shake him.

"Hope you have some time to spare," Stripes said to the Witch of Bitter Winds after Otto had finished his explanation.

The Ogress doesn't seem too amused, but her expressions softens just a bit when she looks down at the little girl. "Well, sounds like you two have some explaining to do," she says to the pair, stepping back so they can enter. "It is late, so keep your voices down."

As they are invited in, Maggie pulls Stripes along as she rushes inside. She is obviously excited about seeing her prospective new home, even if its mostly dark inside at the moment. "Thank you Miss Betony!" says the little girl, offering the Witch a sweet smile.

Betony Rue can't help but raise an eyebrow, wondering how much the girl already knows. She is obviously not Fae, that much she is sure about...but King Pereg wouldn't have sent them her way unless there was a good reason. The Ogress leads the group into the kitchen, which is the source of the light they had seen from the outside. She gestures for them to sit around a table, the frown still noticeable on her brow. Maggie doesn't waste any time and sits down in one of the chairs, smiling at everyone around her.

"So you were sent by the Autumn King?" she asks, her expression not hiding the fact that she wants answers, and that she wants them now.

Stripes takes a seat, as well as a deep breath. Betony seemed intimidating but she was an Autumn Courtier, same as him. Surely she'd see the necessity of what he and Otto had done. The beast was also trying to watch how he phrased things around the mortal child though, not sure whether it would help with her powers but the less she knew about how close to disaster she'd been the better.

Right, so Otto and I at special market and spotted Maggie and few other people in one of the stalls," The tiger explained. "Managed to get Maggie and adult woman...Can't remember name...out and took them away with us. Adult woman went back to her home, but Maggie not really have home to go back to.

Stripes looks at the girl with her big grin and smiles in return before turning his own smile to Betony.

"Rick said you'd be able to help find a place for Maggie," The tiger said, finally taking a breath.

That seemed like everything that needed to be said. Hopefully Otto would fill in the details. Stripes pondered for a moment if he should have mentioned Maggie's special talent, but given how nervous that seemed to make everyone it seemed better to wait on that.

Otto nods at Stripes, rather rough but accurate. "She was taken from her foster home by a possibly well known privateer. Ordinarily we would have returned her back there but she's not exactly happy there. More importantly she can read minds without...being like us. Consensus is that her putting back in a home she's not happy with, not really suited for her and is not protected or watched over is rather bad idea."

The Ogress listens to Stripes and then Otto, remaining quiet as each tell their own version of what happened and explain as to why they are there this late at night. Her eyes widen slightly as the otter mentions the girls telepathic abilities, and the frown on her brow seems to worsen for a moment.

"Next time try not speaking like a caveman," she says to the Hunterheart, with a hint of bitterness in her tone. Betony Rue then turns her scowl towards Otto, obviously irritated with the problem they've brought to her house.

"So you rescued her and then didn't know what you were going to do with her?" she asks the pair, not at all amused. "It sounds to me like you really didn't think this through..."

She lets her words trail off, falling silent for a moment as she glares at the pair of Beasts. The Ogress then glances over at Maggie and lets out a sigh. "So you are worried about her safety, and yet you think the best course of action is for her to stay with people like us," she says and then shakes her head. "You two do realize that the more contact she has with our kind, the more likely it is that she will attract Their attention, right?"
