For all Chuck fans out there I sincerely recommend That Which is Greater by Frea O'Scanlin. This is an alternate universe where Chuck has a four-year-old daughter at the beginning of the series and it changes pretty much everything.

This is a great read: the writing style is great and the author does a great job of mimicking the speach patterns of the original characters. I swear, I can't tell the dialogues from those written by script writers of the original series.

It's primarily a romantic/introspective story though, so don't expect James Bond stuff here.

Also, other stuff she's written is also good. I've read her Felicity/Oliver Arrow fanfic and it's just the right blend between comedy, romance and common sense.

In Flight Very similar to Hill of Swords, this is an excellent story of Shiro from FateXStay/Night (unlimited blade works perfect ending) and his participation in a new tournament of terror. Only this time he has a clue what he's doing, and woe betide these others in the game. Surprisingly well thought out characters, with lots of fun being poked at Ecchi anime in general. You do not need to have seen Sekirei to enjoy this fic, though occasionally googling an image of a character might help.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1031966...History-Lesson Buffy X Samurai Deeper Kyo. Very heavily focused on Buffy though, with lots of odd supernatural elements injected into it. If you want an idea of some of the spirits i'm going to be throwing around, read Vathara's works. And watch for paper-spider assassins.

\Change of Fate And speaking of Vathara the crossover Queen, i present this: Sword Art Online and Star Wars episode 3. A delightful romp of SAO characters trying to make their way with their super-awesome sword skills, and dealing with order 88 and its perpetrators distrust of beings with super-awesome sword skills.

[The Senshi File Red Eye Sailor Moon x Dresden Files. It reads just like a dresden book, so fans will enjoy it. Its sequel brings a LOT more of the sailor moon into the setting. Quiete enjoyable.

Incomplete but still trying:

The Prince That Was Promised Game of Thrones- Robert Baratheon has two gold haired children, his eldest, joffry, and his youngest, Marcella. And then there is the middle child, the black haired, green eyed Harry. Who has strange powers that he keeps well hidden. Why does he remember things that have never happened? why does he always see a lightning-bolt? Oh well, no time for that, got to figure out how to win at the game of thrones. Because you either win, or you die. And Harry Baratheon, who remembers being Harry Potter, doesn't plan on losing.

Candle in the Dark A novelization of KOTOR 1 that goes super into depth on things. And ties up the plot holes, and isn't afraid of splitting the party, and lets Revan earn his awesome.
Team 7's Ascension Do you want to see Team 7 actually function as a team? Do you want them to earn their levels of badass? Do you want to see what happens when Kakashi takes off the training wheels and really makes them work? Then read this. If not? Read this anyway. Its damn good.

Queen's Gambit Accepted
Mass Effect 3. A great romance fic betwen Traynor and Shepard that expands and fluffs the story, and isn't afraid to go into uncharted territory.

So I figure it's time for me to contribute some of my own recommendations. I've been reading a lot of Mass Effect fanfiction over the last week and maybe something will pique your interest.

Mass Effect Reloaded. My favorite one so far. It's a story where FemShep goes back in time instead of taking the Catalyst's choices. It starts off extremely cheesy and hurried in the first two chapters or so but once the author is beyond the introduction, the quality really improves. I'm around Chapter 30 right now and it's a great read - I really recommend going up to about chapter 5 to see how well the story sits with you. It is an active ongoing with new chapters coming out weekly and 54 chapters out.

Transcendent Humanity. An interesting story where Humanity achieves high technology levels and the ability to transit freely between AI and organics before making the First Contact. Mostly just an OP story about how awesome the humans are but it's still fun to read. An ongoing with irregular updates.

Cause and Mass Effect. My favorite self-insert so far. Well-written, thought out, with good character development. Unfortunately it's a dead unfinished story (last update about a year ago) but it is still worth reading, in my opinion.

A small update: if you consider Mass Effect Reloaded Chapter 44 to be the end (the author tells the readers they were going to stop there but continued... just because), then it has a very nice alternative ending to the series. Something like what I would have liked to see for the series

It’s Just That Any One of Us Is Half Without Another One Is You

Despite the weird title, this is an excellent Naruto fanfic that well... Has a good summary:
"An AU in which all the character development of part one gets its due: Kakashi finds another way, Sasuke does not leave the Leaf, Itachi remains a villain, no one is a carbon copy of a previous generation, Sakura grows up to be terrifying, Sasuke finds his way back to family, and Naruto wins all hearts. Featuring Team Seven fluff, filling in the time-skip, and a rather different second half. Drama, Angst, Romance, Fluff, Action, Occasional Porn."

I'll admit that yes, it has porn, but you are all old enough to not skip the rest of the story to go straight there.

What Dr. Dog said. This is almost everything I want from fanfiction: it does the characters justice, handles the source material well and is well-written. Meanwhile, throwing out all the crap Kishimoto shoehorned into Naruto and replacing it with something more logical and better.

It has 21 chapters and 1 sex scene which is about a page long so it's not even worth mentioning unless you really hate this stuff. The author also appears to be a yaoi writer so some hints of that seep through... Again, not a problem.

Different Perspective by Book of Changes: I really liked this story and was fairly sad when the author pulled it from the site. I recently found it and re-read it. It's as good as I remember, even if it ends on a cliff note. It's told from Kakashi's POV.

Dishonorable Discharge: It's a story where none of the Generals defected and Cloud has given up on his dream of joining SOLDIER, since he can't quit ShinRa so he seeks to get fired. Here's his attempts at just that so he can go move onto his new dream, that of Chocobo Jocky.

Inheritors of Flame: I've never watched Katekyo Hitman Reborn but enjoy this story as it is about Tsuna and his friends playing an Online Game where Flames and Box Animals are 'real'.
