The Darklings inch their way towards the sound of the motor...
All good, next roll, please
Perception; 3 sux1 die; 3
After a while, the sound of the motor seemed to be clearer and Lilian moved towards it with a little more confidence.
Degnar continued to move slowly towards the motor, careful not to trip over anything as he inched closer to the sound of the machine.
Rolls
Lilian passes right by Degnar in the silent darkness. The sound of the motor whirring is nearly upon her. Degnar continues, slowly but surely, to make his way toward it. They both hear the dull beat behind them now; it seems it has moved once again.
Go ahead and roll again
Degnar felt the urge to turn and face that which was behind him, but the Darkling suppressed the urge as he continued to move forward, slowly but surely towards the motor.
Perception - spent WP; 2 sux2 dice; 1 success
The dark was making Lilian uneasy - the fact that she seemed to be getting around somewhat quickly only made her more determined to reach that motor.
She had to remember that this was still the Hedge she was tiptoeing through.
Degnar walks face-first into a wall, and while that is an unpleasant shock to the Tunnelgrub, he isn't hurt. Lilian stands directly over the motor, but manages to stub her toe on its housing and knock it over. It falls to the ground with a thud and stops spinning. The room begins to illuminate in eerie yellow LED lights that look somewhat like circuitry arranged into occult sigils. In the spaces in between, the room is filled with filing cabinets on the floor and monitors cover every wall. Wires are strewn about the place and many appear to be chewed on.
The moving sound they had heard earlier reveals itself to be a black metal cat, its legs replaced with tiny rollers, its eyes the same color as the lights. It wheels itself toward Lilian.
Degnar shook off the pain from walking straight into a wall. Fortunately, he had been moving slowly and didn't run into the wall. He didn't have much time to react as he suddenly heard the motor stop, and the darkness of the room was replaced by the eerie lights.
Shit! That's NOT good...
The Darkling turned quickly to look for his companion, when he suddenly spotted the mechanical cat moving towards her. There was no point in being stealthy anymore he thought.
"Watch out!"
He began moving towards her, taking a moment to study the contraption in hopes that he could find a way to disable it somehow.
2 suxx
Lilian had only short time to be glad the lights are back on (or to wonder why/ how this motor produced darknes). She resisted the urge to yell or back away hastily and instead took a closer look at the cat - how far was it away, how fast was it and was there something else to notice?
