The library in Sac State was, like most libraries in existence, a quiet and almost sombre place where the study of knowledge came second after the number 1 rule of the library; Woe betold anyone who damages a book. Especially in this university. Rumour once said that anyone who abused the library found they had nightmares of being lost forever in a maze of book racks as heavy encyclopedia's smacked into their flesh.

Although that particular rumour had been forgotten recently, more's the pity. Slowly, the library on campus had turned into a place to hang, as the saying goes, a fact that made all the staff uncomfortable. Even now, a small but quite loud group of the university's football team had ignored their work and begun to throw objects at each other, and is the sight Lillian and Degnar are greeted to as they enter the library with the librarians on duty giving the group bullet-stares.

Degnar followed Harvey's directions and lead Lilian ( Aeolus ) to the library. Once there he took advantage of the current distraction to invoke some of his fae magic, allowing the shadows around him to cover up his tracks and make him less noticeable to those around.

The Tunnelgrub gestured for Lilian to follow his lead, as he walked quietly around the group of football players horsing around. He hoped that his Fae trickery would be enough to help him go unnoticed and that the librarians were too distracted at the moment to even pay attention to them.

Once they had made it around the scene and deeper into the library, Degnar began to look around the place. He was looking for any signs of a gateway into the Hedge. After all, the Onyx Queen did tell them that the trinket was being kept in a Hollow.

The group of jocks rang a vague but uncomfortable bell in Lilians head. She hesitated, but then decided that the jocks wouldn't want to tease her and call her names (But why would I think that? I'm grown up now. I'm someone else.), so she went after Degnar, carefully trying to look like just another student. At first she was confused when Degnar looked around - he wouldn't expect to find the trinket in the library, would he? - but then she got it and started looking herself. When she found no hint of a gateway after a couple of minutes, she frowned at Degnar. "Nothing." "That's what happens when you get out of touch with your fae side.

The pair sneak through the library as a spot of good fortune shines upon them when the staff on duty head over to berate the jocks who suddenly seem to look a little sheepish. As they travel between the shelves, looking for anything in particular, it is at the far end where Degnar notices a very faint outline of light coming from the edges to the library's store cupboard, the door of which is currently closed.

Degnar nodded at Lilian's words and continued to look around the library. His black beady eyes finally settled on weak light coming from the edges of a cupboard nearby. He subtly pointed at the door and whispered to Lilian.

"That's it. That's the way in."

He began to make his way over to the gate, being careful to remain unnoticed. The Tunnelgrub took each step with care, making sure to keep noise to a minimum.

When Degnar mentioned the entrance, Lilian wondered how she could have missed it; it was kind of fitting in the whole scene, when you looked at it the right way.

She made her way after her companion and looked around when she noticed Degnar doing the same. She couldn't help but smile - he obviously liked to be prepared, just like her.

Both Darklings make it to the door without being seen or heard and glancing around, can see they are unnoticed in return. The faint outline of the door seems to fade away slightly, giving both the impression that it hadn't been used in a very, very long time.

Lilian hesitated - this would be the first time since her escape to enter the Hedge. Yeah, she knew about it, but wandering through it would be a whole other story than hearing about it.
"Are you ready?", she wispered, knowing the she herself wouldn't become any more ready than that.

[Degnar]

Degnar nodded quietly in response to the younger Darkling's question.

As ready as I'll ever be...

He headed towards the cupboard and touched the door gently, letting some glamour flow from his fingertips towards the gate in order to power it.

The cupboard door greedily laps up the darkling's glamour as it shimmers slightly before the changelings' eyes. When they open the door, they notice dark, thorny tendrils creeping at its edges. A bit of light spills over the gateway, but is soon eaten by the inky darkness on the other side.
