Searching for Maria

It'd been a long day and the last thing Sarah really wanted to do was research for the weirdness that seems to inhabit the world she lived in. Really, she wanted to curl up on her couch with a book before going to bed without a single terrifying nightmare that would inevitably plague her sleep.

Reality, however, was never so simple.

Before leaving work, Sarah spent her time going through the internet, using the limited knowledge she knew to research anything to do with the missing Maria de Rossi, who had apparently been missing since the 7th of June....

I was going to roll extended INT + Computer. How long would each roll represent?

Quinn promised herself only three hours a night of trawling the internet, especially after the hellish day's she's been having recently, and as she settled down on the Monday night, Sarah couldn't help but think how easily she found some information on the missing woman....

...Tuesday, however, proved a little more difficult, no doubt due to the dreams again, dreams of someone else taking over her body...

...Come Thursday, Sarah knew how to filter out the rubbish from the actual information, swiftly scrolling and printing off what she could...

...Which became a trickle on Friday night. Her eyes were beginning to feel strained and Quinn was certain she caught someone looking at her through the window of her home. I need some security, she thought...

...It was on Saturday where the final breakthrough came, where the researcher inside glowed proudly after only an hour's work.

It took a long time to compile the information Sarah recieved. After finding the missing persons report, which was barely a footnote, it was relatively simple to get to the personal details. At first, it was just generic stuff- it was easy to find Maria's Facebook page, and from there get her home address, which was in one of the nicer neighbourhoods in Sacramento. She didn't seem to have many friends or relatives connected to her though. Actually, there were none at all- all of them were 'Facebook only' friends.

Going from there though, was harder. Sarah had to filter out the eighty other Maria de Rossis... two of whom lived fairly close by, but seemed to have absolutely no connection to the missing woman. It was just one of those odd coincidences.

It was on Thursday the real breakthrough came, when Sarah found out why she couldn't find any friends or relatives. Maria was estranged from her parents, and had recently run to Sacramento. The blog might have been a way of pleading for the help of people she knew. All Sarah had to do was find out who Maria was reaching out to.

Bingo. On Saturday night, she was there. Maria's parents had come to town, looking for their daughter. There was a passionate plea on a local Church, St. Mark's, noticeboard for information on their missing daughter. There were also contact numbers, and the address of the Hotel that Carlo and Ada de Rossi were staying at. According to the notice board, on the night she'd disappeared, Maria had left a frantic message, begging them to come and pick her up.

Sarah had all her notes, all the print outs spread out on her coffee table, trying to connect the dots, the small bits of information coming together. She checked the clock and picked up her phone, sending numerous texts before gathering up the pages and slipping them inside the folder she had ready. Sarah knew her limitations and knew that she would need help with this. She just hoped the others were going to take her up on the offer.

Receiving back confirmations from both Nicole and Jacque, Sarah gathered what she had learnt and headed to the Spiral, hoping to get some type of plan in order.
