(1106) Summer Festival

[Rust Mane]

Rust frowns down at Nightfall's hand still clutching his shirt. The current King of summer leans back with his weight, makes twin cuts as two motions with his hands and turns to leave the Prince of Dawn with his ruined polo. "Keep it. We'll dance in a second." Without cloth he has clearly weathered a multitude of savage fights. Or did some time in the past. Ragged scars cover more of his metalic back then skin.

Rust marches for the Throne. And they wondered why I called them cowards. "Brother you must be going deaf with your old age. The androgynous voice wants my attention." As he passes the Throne he takes the Crown back into his hands. It could be a sick game. If Rust was wrong, the Crown would be in danger. As he examines the hidden side of the throne and dais he lazily spines the Crown circlet on his finger.

Rust had thought he had freed himself of the damned thing. Here he was protecting it again. "Today just sucks." he mutters under his breath.

The winds pick up once more, now that the freeholds attention is turned to the crown the assembled changeling's can see a feint glow come from the crown. The voice is carried on the wind, only this time it is at a more audible level.

"You know this is what they want? They want my freehold to argue amongst itself and fail." The voice pauses "Rust, do you even realise what have you done?"

Now that the volume has been turned up a notch or two; slowly but surely the changeling's in the freehold start to recognise the voice. It is not one singular voice, but an amalgamation of four voices. Alice, Rust, Hal & Katrin.

[Rust Mane]

"It would seem the only one argue to anything now is you." Rust quips to the Crown. He catches it in a hand and frown down on it. "The Freehold spoke. No Blood, No Hate, No Rust." He pauses and looks out everyone staring at the creepy circle of metal It was weird hearing his voice spoken back at him. But after enough Wyrd things stop being shocking. "Am I wrong?"

Things stop being shocking. Maybe that was part of the problem tonight.

[Nightfall]

"You're so arrogant," Nightfall whispers in reply, just before the crown speaks.

There is no anger; if anything, surprise and disbelief, and a brief glance at Marcus of sadness.

The talking crown holds little interest for the Dawn courtier, other than a quick glance at Alice. He steps back, shaking his head, disappointed, and content to let the piece of jewelry grand stand. His interest is in the people of the Freehold, not the self-important trinkets that adorn them.

Rick grimaced slightly as Rust picked up the crown. Maybe he should have mentioned the source of the voice earlier. The thing obviously had a mind of his own, and what it wanted wasn't necessarily what the Freehold did. He didn't see it helping matters all that much in this instance, either.

It wasn't as though he'd forgotten the trouble Marcus seemed to have in putting the thing down during the Winter Festival. And it was hard to say whether this situation or that one was the more volatile

"No, you're not." His eyes flickered down to the crown. "So put it down before it tries anything else."

Spending 1 Glamour to bump initiative as per his Kith blessing...just in case.

Huh, a talking crown... This doesn't look like it's going to end well... Tally mentally muses while continuing to observe the drama that this First Day of Summer has become. She can only wonder how this will effect life within the Freehold or if that future is still up in the air.

She glances about the crowd, she doesn't know what to do with her hands either. She crosses them over her chest or keep them hanging on her sides. The courtless Hunterheart would also rub her cheeks as well. She couldn't help it, this isn't something she's experienced before and her nerves gave her a lot of energy that she didn't know how to channel. She could only hope that the coming contests will be able to help her channel such energy.

[Nightfall]

Nightfall watched in silence, surprised Rick hadn't guessed.

Rust couldn't abdicate.

The crown had chosen him, and fuck anyone else.

He'd realized Rust would be King once he had been crowned; they'd already learned with Katrin that they had no say in the Sovereigns.

Except the fucking crown had interrupted when he'd tried to make the best of what (who) they had.

Somewhere, someone was laughing.
