Standing Upon Spiritual Heights

And just like that the Uratha find themselves in a heap upon a plush carpet as opposed to the dark depths of the river. A look around will reveal a large office, with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a panoramic view of Sacramento's spiritscape.

Wild Sacramento, apparently not bothered by the hole through the center of his head, turns to one of the windows that makes up the walls. A touch turns it into something rather similar to a plasma tv, which begins replaying images of the recent encounter within the river.

The Uratha, meanwhile, quickly come to the realization that although they may be out of the river their lungs are still full of water. Which they can't really breathe anymore. Which means there's suddenly a lot of coughing and retching to clear it from their lungs and, you know, breathe again.

As the threads of power begin to close around Matthew, deep-seated instincts demand that he fight back, assert some measure of control over his path. There's an instant of resistance before a more rational part of his mind prevails, forcing himself to relax and be pulled along.

Almost instantly, the Cahalith feels the change as the water ceases to support his breath. In the midst of the wracking coughs he slips into Urhan, the intense discomfort seeming to press him into his most familiar from. Slowly regaining some measure of control as his lungs largely empty of water, he climbs to all fours, shifting to Urshul in the process. Apparently unfazed by the incongruity of wearing a lupine form in so human a setting, he turns to regard Wild Sacramento, sitting on his haunches. <<What do you wish to discuss, oh great one?>>

Starflower leans over and gags out the water clouding his lungs, nausea forming after such a bone-jarring trip. <<Wha....>> he sputters out, trying to form the first tongue words through his panting. <<What about Rushing Waters? They brought us there, we cant just abandon them...>> the Bone Shadow worried, fretting that the spirits have longer memories than they wish, and that they might remember their retreat........

Jordan coughs up a huge chunk of river water. Making sure he got it all up before looking to Matthew and Sally. "I am still confused. Who is he?" He thought to Matthew and Sally just before shifting into human form.

Chantay joins the rest of the Uratha in coughing copious amounts of river water onto the luxuriant-looking carpet. Not that she had much choice in the matter. Though afterwards she doesn't adapt quite the same reverent speech as Matthew. Mainly because she remembered her last visit to this room well enough to know that, for whatever reason, he didn't particularly seem to like it. Which did, perhaps, seem a bit odd to her. But she'd learned that trying to understand the emotions and motivations of even minor spirits could be difficult. To say nothing of an Incarnae.

Though she was certain to appear respectful...since the options were pretty much limited to that, fawning, or suicidal. But for now, she kept her words simple. <<On behalf of my pack, thank you for your assistance.>> As an aside to Jordan she added, <<He's an Incarnae, the Spirit of Sacramento.>>

<<Spare me your fawning.>> The words seem to be directed at Matthew, and also seem to confirm Chantay's belief that he preferred speaking plainly. The concerns about the river spirits...he seems to dismiss for now. Instead pausing the image to give a particularly good view of the being they had encountered in the river's depths. <<Have any of you figured out what this is yet?>>

If you have at least two dots of Occult and succeed on an Int + Occult roll...

<<One of the Moon-Banished resides in the river?>> Starflower says, awestruck. <<Surely they were just a metaphor....i didnt think there were actually any left..>> The Bone Shadow continues, mumbling half to himself, half for the benefit of anyone who gave a damn.

Matthew stares into the window. Dreams bubble to the surface of memory, bringing with them tales, stories of the great wars of the past. Ears flatten backwards, and a single word issues from his throat. <<Idigam.>>

    The Cahalith knows his history.

<<Obviously there are some left.>> He doesn't even bother to hide the hints of scorn in his voice. Meanwhile, he manipulates the screen a bit more. Fast forwarding until he can capture a still of the Idigam apparently being pressed up against some invisible barrier. <<Now have you been able to determine why it cannot leave its domain?>>

Matthew watches the screen for a moment, thinking back through lore he had heard. When nothing particular seems to come to mind, he changes tact and takes a stab at the obvious. <<Its Ban?>>

"What would be powerful enough to summon such a thing, or bar such a thing from leaving there..." Sally said as she thought back to the Idigam and what it represented. Sally sat down, pulled out a leather bound notebook and began scribbling down as much as she could trying to get all of this down.

"Why can't we just kill it." Digger says taking out a smoke and lighting it.
