Taking the long way home

Emily watched the bus, which should take her home, drive away, a joint in her hand and a warm feeling in her gut. She had to walk home now, but actually she didn't mind.
She took another toke and extinguished the joint after that - saving it for worse times. Emily just sat there for a minute, enjoying the warmth of the air around her and how the bench beneath her felt, before she got up and started walking towards her appartment. What a beautiful evening..

It's a longer walk home than Emily thought, but so what the night was cool for summertime, and the weed was good. There where a few cars left on the street but the din of rush hour had long passed.

Dinner sounded good, but what does not sound good to eat right now. A scream draws Emily out of her self absorbed stroll.

    Roll

Emily just thought of what Seth might have cooked and briefly considered finding the nearest McDonald's (nothing over a cold Cheeseburger while stoned), when she heard the scream.
The warm feeling in her gut turned to fear, almost terror as Emily first-hand experienced the downsides of marijuana.

Emily looks around and finds the source of the scream.

A pretty blond woman screams again, and runs into the arms of a well-dressed man with dark hair. He hugs her as she plants kisses all over his face. She squeals in delight again as the man lifts her into the air, spinning her around as they both smile and laugh into each other's faces. One can hardly help but cringe at the tempest of PDA going on between the two apparently reunited lovers.

Emily finds herself calming down, as the paranoid feeling began creeping away.

She arrives home at her apartment building. ((Feel free to describe the place))

After a few seconds of just standing and staring at the couple Emily chuckled. "Silly me." She in fact giggled almost the whole way home, earning her a few confused looks of passers by; not that she cared.
The nervousness went away, but the hunger stayed and by the time she stuck her key into the apartment door she really wanted something to get between her teeth.

"Seth? Jenn?" Turning on the lights she noticed that her roommates' shoes were missing. "They're probably out to see a movie.." she muttered as she threw her own shoes roughly into the direction of the shoe rack beside the door. Then she put her jacket at one of the (mostly empty - they were definately out) hooks beside the little, red framed mirror. By now the marijuana's effect pretty much faded away, but she didn't really wanted another jay right now. A coffee and something to eat, now that was another story.

On her way through the hallway to the kitchen she passed Seth's and Jenny's room and looked inside - the orange painted walls were a harsh contrast to the masses of black furniture and the dark blue carpet - not that it was visible with all the clothes and books lying around. Raising an eyebrow she got going again: through the small living room at the end of the short corridor into the kitchen, a colorful collection of cupboards and kitchenware; each its different style, but together they somehow fit together anyway. Seth indeed cooked today: inside the metallic red pot there was some spaghetti sauce left, so Emily just had to make some noodles. While she waited for the water to cook she brewed herself a cup of coffee and filled it into an old-fashioned white mug. She leaned against the counter while her noodles got cooked and she already finished the coffee when they were ready.

Emily walked back into the living room with a yellow, smiley-adorned bowl of spaghetti and a bottle of water. "Book or the idiot box?" She asked noone in particular as she let herself down onto the faded couch. Her stomach actually growled loudly when she swallowed down the first spoon of noodles - the decision was forgotten for now; she just wanted to eat. Thanking that new movie comming out today that she had the apartment for herself that evening she finished her bowl and laid back, smiling as she considered another helping.
People were calling her life pointless, but, to be honest, she was quite enjoying it right now.

As Emily's ass had just found its groove in the couch cushion her mealtime was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"Forgot his keys again." Emily said as she put the bowl onto the small square wooden table and got up. "Jenn, could you at least try not to forget your key all the time?" She said as she opened the door without looking through the spyhole before.

There's nobody at the door. She looks up and down the hallway and sees no sign of anyone. The lights in the corridor flicker and then go off and the only remaining light is the light coming from her open door. She can hear nothing coming from the adjacent apartments.

Emily stopped her tongue-lashing mid-sentence as the door was open and she saw neither her roommates nor anyone else. "Hello?" She stepped outside and looked down. "Maybe it's like on of those movies.." her mind finished what she said out loud and she giggled. Okay, maybe the marijuana was not entirely out of her system.

From down the hall Emily hears a soft weeping. The more she listens she realizes it's a woman, crying sorrowfully.
